The Dodgers' World Series win had been massive, but Anthony’s celebration made waves on social media like no one could have predicted. TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter were buzzing, and within hours, clips of him with no shirt on, and wearing a mister cartoon mask holding the World Series trophy, along with highlights of his best pitches, were trending worldwide.
Fans, especially, had taken a particular liking to him. Every day, there seemed to be a new video of fans fawning over him. His smile, his intensity on the field, his tattoos and him just being shirtless. TikTok was flooded with slow-motion edits of him pitching or beaming in victory.
As the days went by, you couldn’t help but notice the number of comments under these videos. Thousands of girls were openly crushing on him, some jokingly claiming he was “their husband” or that they’d found “the man of their dreams.” At first, you had laughed it off, thinking it was cute how invested the fans were. But as the attention grew, you started feeling a knot of insecurity settle in your chest.
One night, you were scrolling through TikTok and stumbled upon another video montage of Anthony— Anthony being completely shirtless. The video had hundreds of thousands of views and comments, with girls declaring, “How could Y/N possibly get so lucky?” or, “If he ever breaks up with her, I’m next in line!”
You sighed, closing your phone and setting it on the nightstand. You glanced over at Anthony, who was in the bathroom brushing his teeth, oblivious to the world. You'd been spending most of their nights at his place, but tonight, for some reason, you felt out of place. You couldn’t shake the thought that maybe, just maybe, he could do better.
Anthony walked out of the bathroom, wiping off his face, and saw you sitting up in bed, looking a little lost in thought. He raised an eyebrow and climbed into bed beside you, nudging you gently.
“Hey,” he said softly. “You okay?”
You forced a small smile, hoping he wouldn’t pick up on your mood. “Yeah, just… thinking.”
“Uh-oh,” he teased, but his smile faded when he saw your expression hadn’t changed. “No, really. What’s on your mind?”
You hesitated, glancing down at the bracelet he'd given you, on your wrist, twisting it slowly. “I was just… I don’t know. It’s silly.”
Anthony took your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “Nothing you feel is silly to me. Talk to me, babe.”
You took a deep breath, finally meeting his gaze. “It’s just… I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and edits about you, and all these girls are saying how lucky I am and… how amazing you are. And they’re right, you’re incredible. I just… sometimes I feel like you could do better.”
Anthony’s eyes softened as he listened, and when you looked away, he placed a gentle hand on your cheek, guiding your gaze back to him.
“Y/N,” he said softly, his thumb stroking your cheek. “Don’t you know that I already have the best?”
You bit your lip, the vulnerability in your eyes making his heart ache. “But… you’re this amazing guy with all these people admiring you. You’re a World Series champion. And I’m just… me.”
Anthony leaned in, pressing a kiss to your forehead, his voice a low murmur against your skin. “You’re not ‘just’ anything. You’re my world, Y/N. All those girls only see a small part of me—the guy on the field, the guy in front of the cameras. But you… you know the real me. The one who can be a total dork, who messes up the laundry, who gets nervous when he has to speak in front of a crowd. You’re the one who’s seen me at my worst and loved me through it.”
You blinked, feeling the sting of tears but trying to hold them back. “But they—”
“Let them crush on me,” he said gently, brushing a tear from your cheek. “They don’t know what we have, Y/N. They’re just fans, and that’s it. But you… you’re the one I come home to. You’re the one I want beside me every day, through everything. There’s no one else in this world that I want by my side.”
You took a shaky breath, leaning into his touch. “You mean that?”
Anthony smiled, his eyes warm and full of reassurance. “I mean it. Every word. I don’t want anyone else. You’re my girl. No amount of social media edits or fan comments could ever change that.”
He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into his chest as he held you close. You felt his heartbeat steady against yours, his warmth and strength enveloping you, and a wave of calm washed over you.
“You’re enough for me, Y/N. More than enough,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to your hair. “And I’m lucky to have you, not the other way around.”
You smiled against his chest, letting his words sink in. All your doubts and insecurities began to fade, replaced by the quiet confidence that he truly meant every word.
“Thank you,” you whispered, your voice barely audible.
He held you tighter, running a hand soothingly down your back. “Anytime, babe. I’m here for you—forever.”
And as they lay there, you realized that as long as you two were together, you had everything you’d ever need.
