The day of the World Series parade had finally arrived, and Los Angeles was buzzing with excitement. Fans lined the streets in Dodger blue, waving flags, cheering, and celebrating as the players made their way down the parade route on the back of open-top buses. Jack stood on the bus alongside his teammates, the World Series trophy in hand, grinning from ear to ear as he waved to the fans. The energy was electric, and you were right beside him, soaking in the joy of the city’s celebration.

Eventually the parade ended at Dodger Stadium where thousands of fans were lined up at the entrance waiting for all the players to enter.

Jack held you hand as you walked into the stadium. There were families with kids on their shoulders, people holding handmade signs, people holding out items to be autographed.

Jack grinned, pulling you closer to plant a quick kiss on your cheek.

As you made your way to the field you and Jack couldn’t stop smiling, exchanging inside jokes, and sharing stolen glances. Every now and then, Jack would pull you in a side hug, his pride and happiness radiating as he celebrated not just his team’s victory but also having you by his side through it all. The city of Los Angeles felt like one big family that day, united in joy and excitement.

You made it to your seat on the field with the other WAGs while Jack made his way to the stage with the other players. You watched at Ice Cube performed with Dave jumping in, you heard speeches from some of the players, one of your favourites being Kiké making fun of Fat Joe's performance and getting the whole audience to say "the fact that we don't give a fuck."

Eventually the main stage came to an end and the players went to the outfield walls and started signing autographs and taking pictures.

You were talking with Meghan, Cara, Molly and Kayla, enjoying some lighthearted conversations. It was a surreal experience, talking with the women who had supported their significant others through the ups and downs of the long season.

But as you were talking to them about what you girls would be wearing to the after party at the Betts' house. You turned slightly, and your smile faded instantly.

Jack was across the field, and he was standing very close to a woman she didn’t recognize. Your heart gave a small jolt when you realized what  was happening, her and Jack were kissing.

In that moment your heart dropped.

It felt like everything around you froze. You stood there, unable to look away, your chest tightening as your mind raced with confusion and disbelief. Jack… kissing someone else? Your legs felt heavy, frozen in your spot, even though every instinct in you wanted to turn and walk away, to escape before anyone could see the hurt in your eyes

You blinked, forcing yourself to look away as she tried to process what you had just seen. Your thoughts were swirling, disbelief mingling with a pang of betrayal that made your stomach churn. You blinked trying to fight the tears building up.

But before you could fully act like what you saw wasnt real, you heard Jack’s voice calling your name.

“Y/N!” Jack was making his way over to you, his face a mixture of confusion and frustration. He looked over his shoulder at the girl who’d kissed him, who was now being ushered away by security. When he reached you, he took your hand, but you pulled away, your emotions still everywhere.

“Y/N, hey… wait, it’s not what you think,” he said quickly, his voice low but urgent. “That girl just came out of nowhere and kissed me. I didn’t even see it coming.”

You took a deep breath, trying to keep your voice steady. “Jack, I just saw you… with her, and it—” you stopped, the words catching in your throat. You'd seen enough to doubt him, but seeing his distressed expression on his face made you not know what to think

“I swear, I would never… I mean, she came up to me, I thought she just wanted a picture or an autograph,” Jack said, sounding almost frantic. “I didn’t even know her, and then suddenly she was kissing me. I pulled away as soon as I realized what was happening.”

The sincerity in his eyes made you pause. You studied his face, seeing the frustration and hurt mingled with his obvious desperation to make you understand.

“You’re telling me… that was just some random fan?” you asked, your voice softer now.

“Yeah. I didn’t even know what was going on until it was too late,” he said, reaching out to gently take your hand. “Y/N, I’d never betray you like that. I can’t believe you’d even think I would.”

You looked away, trying to gather your thoughts. Part of you felt dumb for doubting him, but another part had been blindsided by the scene. After everything you’d been through, the idea that he'd cheat on you, especially here, at this celebration, seemed impossible. But at the same time, you had seen that kiss with your own eyes.

You looked back at him, taking in the worry in his face, the way he was looking at you so carefully, waiting for your response. Slowly, you took a deep breath and let your shoulders relax, the tension slowly ebbing away.

“I’m sorry,” you said quietly, looking down at your joined hands. “It just… it caught me off guard. Seeing you with someone else… even for a second, it hurt.”

He nodded, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. “I get it. And I’m sorry that happened. I should’ve been more careful, but I promise, Y/N, it meant nothing to me. You’re the only person I care about, the only one I want to be with.”

You managed a small smile, feeling a wave of relief wash over you. “I believe you,” you whispered, meeting his gaze again. “I just… I love you, Jack. Seeing that, even if it was just a misunderstanding, it… it got to me.”

“I love you too,” he replied, his voice soft and steady. “And I’ll make it up to you. We’re supposed to be celebrating today, right?”

You nodded, a smile breaking through your lingering doubt. “Right. And I don’t want to let anything ruin that.”

You two hugged again, this time longer, holding each other close. The unease from moments before slowly faded away, replaced by a feeling of reassurance. You could hear the hum of voices around them, see the rest of the Dodgers’ families laughing and chatting, but in that moment, it was just the two of you. You let herself lean into him.

When you finally pulled back, Jack looked at you. “Come on. Let’s make the most of this day. We’ve earned it.”

With a smile, you nodded, slipping your hand back into his. The two of you spent the rest of the event together, celebrating and laughing with the other players and their families, putting the earlier misunderstanding behind you. By the time you both left Dodger Stadium that evening, any lingering doubts had vanished.

And as the two of you walked out together, Jack looked at you, his smile gentle and full of affection. “Thank you,” he murmured. “For trusting me.”

“Always,” you replied, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.
