Tommy, Y/N, and Junebug had decided to go out to a casual little diner after the day’s practice before the offseasons kicked off. It was one of those local spots, cozy and unassuming, where the food was good and the atmosphere was relaxed. Tommy had suggested it, wanting something laid-back after the intensity of practice, and both you and Junebug had happily agreed.

The three of you were seated at a booth near the window, with you and Tommy on one side and Junebug on the other. Tommy held your hand under the table, his thumb gently rubbing circles on your palm as you three looked over the menu.

Junebug looked up from her menu, an amused smile playing on her lips as she noticed the way you and Tommy were gazing at each other. “You two are disgustingly cute, you know that?”

You just laughed, squeezing Tommy’s hand. “You’re just jealous, Junebug.”

“Oh, please,” Junebug said, rolling her eyes. “I don’t need a boyfriend to be happy.” She grinned and added, “But if I did have one, I’d want him to look at me like Tommy looks at you.”

Tommy chuckled, his gaze flicking to you with a softness that made your heart skip a beat. “Can you blame me?” he asked, lifting your hand to his lips and pressing a soft kiss to your knuckles. “Look at her.”

You felt her cheeks warm, and you ducked your head, smiling shyly. “You’re going to make me blush, Tommy.”

He leaned in closer, lowering his voice. “That’s the plan.”

Just as his lips brushed against your cheek, Junebug cleared her throat dramatically. “Ahem! There’s a single lady at the table who would appreciate a little less PDA.”

Tommy leaned back, laughing. “Alright, alright. We’ll try to contain ourselves. For now.”

You smirked, your eyes glinting with mischief as you leaned a little closer to him. “No promises, though.”

As you three ordered your food and chatted, Tommy couldn’t help but keep his attention on you. He’d never been this drawn to anyone before, and every little thing you did seemed to pull him in more. When you laughed, he felt his heart flip, and when you looked at him, he felt like he could stay in that moment forever.

“So, how’s practice going?” Junebug asked, breaking into his thoughts.

Tommy shrugged. “It’s been good. But someone was making it a little hard to focus today,” he said, casting a sideways glance at you.

You raised your eyebrows in mock surprise. “Me? I was just watching.”

Tommy leaned in, his voice a low whisper meant only for you, but audible enough for Junebug to hear. “You know exactly what you were doing.”

You gave him an innocent look, though your smile betrayed her. “I would never try to distract you.”

“Oh, really?” he replied, leaning even closer until his face was just inches from yours. “Because I think you were doing everything you could to get under my skin.”

Your eyes met, and for a moment, it was like the whole restaurant faded away. Tommy’s gaze was intense, his hand slipping around your waist as he pulled you just a little closer, his breath warm on your cheek.

Junebug cleared her throat again, louder this time. “Hey, lovebirds, remember I’m still here?”

They both pulled back, laughing. You gave Junebug an apologetic smile. “Sorry! It’s just hard to resist.”

“I can tell,” Junebug muttered with a grin. “But seriously, maybe I should just leave you two to it.”

Tommy shook his head, smirking. “Nope, you’re stuck with us tonight. But we’ll behave… mostly.”

The food arrived shortly after, and the three of you dug in, but it didn’t take long for Tommy’s hand to find its way back to yours under the table, his fingers lacing through yours. Every so often, he’d glance over at you, his gaze soft and affectionate, and you’d give him a smile that made him want to pull you close again. You could feel his thumb gently tracing along your hand, each touch sending a little thrill through you.

Halfway through the meal, Tommy leaned over again, his voice low. “You look incredible tonight, by the way.”

You felt your cheeks flush, smiling as you leaned in a little closer. “Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself.”

Before you knew it, his hand was gently resting on your thigh under the table, his thumb tracing small circles there. The casual, affectionate touch sent a shiver down your spine, and you found yourself leaning into him a little more.

Junebug glanced between the two of you, raising an eyebrow. “Are you two flirting under the table? Right in front of me?”

You laughed, though she could feel her cheeks burning. “Maybe a little.”

“A little?” Junebug shook her head, laughing. “It’s like I’m third-wheeling on a date here.”

Tommy grinned, squeezing your thigh gently. “Hey, we’re just giving you something to aspire to.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Junebug said, rolling her eyes but smiling. “Just remember who introduced you two in the first place.”

You laughed, leaning over to press a quick kiss to Tommy’s cheek. “And we’re very grateful.”

The three of you had finished your meals, and were chatting and laughing as the evening went on. But Tommy’s hand stayed on your thigh the whole time, his touch a constant reminder of just how much he adored you. When the three of you finally paid the bill and stood to leave, Tommy pulled you close, his arm around your waist as you walked out.

Junebug walked beside them, shaking her head as she watched them exchange soft smiles and quiet whispers. “You two are seriously ridiculous,” she said, grinning.

Tommy glanced over at her, laughing. “Don’t pretend you’re not loving it.”

“Fine, maybe a little,” she admitted with a smirk. “But seriously, I better be the maid of honor if you guys ever tie the knot.”

You laughed, her eyes meeting Tommy’s. “We’ll keep that in mind,” she said, leaning against him.

Tommy tightened his hold on you, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. “We’re not going anywhere,” he murmured, just for you to hear.

You smiled, feeling warmth spread through you as you three headed out into the night, already looking forward to all the memories yet to come.
