Chapter 24 – Glimpse of the Future
Beneath Wayne Mansion—hidden behind biometric locks and anti-magic barriers— inside the chamber stood a long obsidian table, its surface reflecting the screen. Around it sat some of the most formidable beings on the continent—warriors who had survived wars the world no longer remembered.
The walls flickered with projections.
Genetic anomalies among Aemans—a new form of human-tech hybrid, the Zenips, had finally succeeded in creating.
Mutations within the Grema virus, its evolving structure suggesting weaponization.
And far beyond Earth, the projected trajectories of unmarked alien vessels drift past the edge of the solar system.
Sarah Wayne stood at the head of the table, her dark cloak brushing the floor.
"We don't have much time," she said, her voice quiet but steady. "They already know about us—the Guardians who keep interfering with their plans."
Damian leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, green eyes fixed on her. "The elder Zenips confirmed your betrayal?"
Sarah nodded once.
"The Council suspects their ruler. When the alliance from Mars arrives... I will be dethroned."
Her voice hardened. "And this time, we won't survive it."
Across the table, Soria exhaled slowly, resting her chin on her hand as if the news bored her. But her eyes betrayed unease.
"Let them try," she murmured. "They won't set foot in my waters."
Sarah turned toward the largest projection in the room. It displayed her daughter's blood analysis—lines of glowing data spiraling across the screen.
"My daughter is changing," Sarah said quietly. "Just like the other hybrids her age. Miexha's power will awaken soon."
Her voice tightened. "And when it does, the Zenips will come for her."
Dr. Thalia Sebastian lifted her glass filled with crimson wine.
"Is that why you gathered us here?" she asked lazily. "To protect your heiress?"
Sarah's answer came flat and cold. "No."
The room stilled.
"Because she's a hybrid. Zenip. Human."
Her green eyes glowed faintly. "They won't just want to claim her."
Her voice darkened. "They'll breed her."
A chill spread through the chamber. "Just like they did with Damian's daughter," Sarah continued quietly. "To create the Aemans."
Her gaze swept across the table. "Tell me... what happens to this world when another species is born from another experiment?"
No one answered.
Sarah's voice hardened with resolve. "That's why I called you here."
Her green eyes turn into gold. "To stop my own kind."
"To end the Zenips. Even if I must do it alone."
She paused. "And if I fall—"
"You won't," Damian interrupted sharply.
Sarah shook her head.
"I will."
Her voice carried no doubt. "I chose to change destiny."
