The entire cafeteria fell into sudden silence.
Even the sound of utensils stopped clinking when Jayson Dom walked in — tall, expressionless, uniform sleeves rolled neatly to his elbows, the notorious “presidential son” whose glare could silence an entire hallway.
Miexha was running toward Zatariel Wov, arms wide open.
She hugged him tightly, and the whole crowd gasped again.
Jayson’s jaw clenched.
Then, just as Zatariel leaned in to kiss her head, Miexha stepped back — soft, polite, distant.
He exhaled quietly. She didn’t let him.
Still, guilt crawled up his throat when he caught the pain flickering in Zatariel’s eyes. That silent, helpless kind of hurt.
Jayson looked away for a second, forcing himself to breathe.
He shouldn’t feel guilty.
He didn’t steal anything.
Miexha liked him now.
When Miexha noticed him standing by the doorway, her face lit up like a morning star.
“Dear!” she called, her voice carrying across the cafeteria.
Jayson blinked, caught off guard as she ran toward him, her wavy hair swaying, her smile so bright he forgot how to breathe.
He didn’t even move until she was already tugging his sleeve.
The stiff, stoic Jayson Dom — the boy who never smiled, who never flinched, who treated emotions like viruses — was suddenly soft.
His entire gaze melted as he looked at her.
Then, to everyone’s horror and delight, he smiled.
Girls at nearby tables literally squealed.
One fainted.
Another covered her mouth whispering, “Oh my god, he’s actually hot when he smiles—”
Before the commotion got worse, Miexha frowned and stood on tiptoe, pulling down his face with both hands.
“Stop that! You’ll make me fight half the school if you keep smiling like that!” she scolded, puffing her cheeks.
The cafeteria burst into laughter.
Jayson, still smiling slightly, leaned closer to her ear and whispered,
“Then I guess you’ll have to fight hard, my wife.”
Miexha’s face turned scarlet.
Her knees almost gave out from the way he said wife—so casually, so sincerely.
The girls screamed again.
Lorie and Miguel exchanged horrified looks from the Section 6 table.
Lorie whispered,
“We need to separate our baby immediately. That man is dangerous.”
Miguel nodded gravely. “Operation Save Miexha starts after class.”
Meanwhile, Zatariel bit his lip and quietly left the cafeteria before anyone noticed.
Every step felt heavier than the last. He didn’t need to turn around to know Miexha’s laughter was still echoing behind him.
Asha, watching from a few tables away with her jaw hanging open, whispered to herself,
“...That’s not my brother. That’s a demon wearing his skin.”
Dom Mansion — Saturday Morning
The rain was soft outside, tapping gently on the mansion’s glass windows.
Miexha stood in front of her mirror, adjusting her ribbon for the third time. Her fingers trembled a little — not from nervousness, but from guilt.
“Calm down,” she whispered to herself.
“You have Jayson now… your future is Jayson.”
Still, her heart ached.
Zatariel Wov.
Her first love. Her first heartbreak.
The clock struck 10.
