Chapter 137
Miexha’s Point of View
Election Day.
Seven months pregnant.
Swollen feet.
Swollen belly.
And a very swollen husband — not physically, but emotionally.
After I voted (which took forever because people still treat voting machines like tourist attractions), Asha dragged me to the clinic for my check-up. Well—sprinted while I waddled behind her like a happy penguin.
She planned it like a royal gala. She even claimed she booked fireworks. For a baby who hasn’t even been born yet. I swear, sometimes she’s more excited about this baby than I am.
The OB smiled warmly after checking the ultrasound.
“Vitals are good, heartbeat steady, and… congratulations. It’s a girl.”
Asha screamed.
The OB flinched. The nurse nearly dropped the gel. I just blinked.
“OH MY GOD, ANOTHER PRINCESS!” Asha clapped like a hyper seal. “It’s ON. Baby shower, gender reveal, the works—pink, bunnies, unicorns, butterflies! Jamie’s gonna LOSE HER MIND!”
At this point, I felt like I was just carrying Asha’s personal doll.
Back home, she went full commander on the maids.
“Pink streamers on the left! Unicorn balloons on the right! Cake in the middle! DO NOT forget the cotton candy machine—this is a celebration of LIFE.”
The maids were already dead inside.
But everything shifted when Jayson came home.
Pale. Sweating. Twitching. Breathing like he was about to give birth.
“Election…” he croaked, eyes glued to the livestream. His name was still on top—but the second placer was too close. And my emotionally swollen husband? On the verge of collapse.
His father chuckled and patted his back.
“Relax. That’s normal. I fainted during my first election. Your mom almost threw water at me.”
His mother nodded dramatically.
“Oh, he collapsed when the final count came in. I thought I’d be widowed before inauguration.”
Jayson’s hands trembled. He couldn’t form a sentence.
Asha decided to intervene—with a crisis diversion plan.
“We’re doing the gender reveal now.”
“W-What?!” Jayson gasped. “B-but—”
“No buts. Win or lose, you’ll know what color to paint the crib.”
And of course, she was already livestreaming.
“HELLO VIEWERS! Welcome to the unexpected midnight baby reveal! Who cares about election results? Not us! Jayson’s more excited to know if he’s getting a mini-him or a mini-Littlelune!”
The comments exploded:
✨🍭 “Awww best stress reliever ever!”
💖 “I voted for him BECAUSE he’s a family man!”
😂 “Poor Congressman looks like he’s about to pass out.”
🎀 “TEAM GIRL! PINK ARMY!”
🤰 “Littlelune is glowing! But someone give that man a paper bag!”
Jayson was blindsided.
“Asha… you knew already?!” he whispered.
“Of course. I am your sister,” she grinned.
Jamie bounced excitedly beside him.
“Daddy! I hope it’s a girl! I wanna dress her like my doll!”
Jayson just nodded, too stunned to speak.
