Chapter 16 — Ambition in His Blood
Thyron sat straight in the cold leather chair. His posture was calm and controlled.
But his fingers twitched slightly in his lap.
Rickzen Verra paced across the office like a king whose territory had just been invaded.
"I want to know," Rickzen said sharply, his voice cutting through the room,
"Why did you allow that Wolf boy into the student council?"
Thyron didn't flinch. He tilted his head slightly.
"Zatariel won the vote. The students chose him."
"Don't give me that," Rickzen snapped. "You know exactly what he is. And I don't need another dirty dog sniffing around where he doesn't belong."
Then Rickzen's voice dropped.
"Is that boy close to Miexha?"
Thyron didn't need to fake discomfort. The thought alone made his jaw tighten.
"She... likes him," he admitted quietly.
"It was obvious."
Rickzen turned away in visible disgust. "My heir?" he scoffed. "Falling for some stray dog? That boy stepping foot in this mansion? No. No—over my dead body."
Heir.
Not daughter.
Thyron noticed it again.
Rickzen leaned forward on his desk, exhaling sharply. "I'd rather let that boy play student president until he burns himself out than see him sitting at my table beside her."
Rickzen's tone grew colder. "She's naïve. Too soft. Too trusting. And one day she'll inherit everything. That empire needs someone who understands power."
Slowly, Rickzen turned to face him.
"You grew up with us. You know the family secrets. You understand what this legacy truly costs better than the groom they had chosen."
Thyron kept his expression neutral—but inside, his pulse was rising. This was what he had been waiting for.
Rickzen stepped closer.
"I'll give you what you've earned. When the time comes, Miexha will be yours. Just make sure she stays away from that wolf and his master."
Thyron bowed his head slightly to hide the flash of victory in his eyes.
"Thank you, sir."
Rickzen waved a hand dismissively. "Don't rush her. Let her enjoy school. Let her chase silly romance. She'll understand reality eventually."
Thyron straightened, calm and composed again.
"And the Doms?" he asked carefully.
Rickzen sneered. "Temporary obstacles. Nothing more."
Thyron nodded and left the office. The hallway lights reflected in the polished gold fixtures, shining like trophies waiting to be claimed.
Miexha wasn't just a girl.
She was the key.
To the Wayne throne.
And he would have her.
No matter what it took.
=================
After leaving Rickzen's office, Thyron didn't go home.
He changed into a black and gold suit. Clean lines. Sharp shoulders. A mask that hid just enough of his face to make his expression unreadable.
If Rickzen wanted a future groom worthy of an empire, then Thyron would start looking like one.
