Chapter 93 - The Field of Unborn Things
Inside Miexha's Unconsciousness
Miexha stood barefoot in the middle of an open field.
Everything was just as it had always been in her recurring dreams: tall grass brushing her knees, the sharp scent of decay drifting on the wind.
The bunnies were there.
Two black ones tumbled playfully near a cracked stone. A brown one nosed at scentless flowers.
And in the corner-unchanged, eternal-the white bunny lay curled against the roots of a dying tree, drenched in blood. Its eyes still open. Still watching.
Miexha dropped to her knees.
She cried-for the hundredth time. But this time, the tears felt heavier. Not just grief.
Guilt.
Then-
A shimmer at the edge of the field.
The golden bunny.
She had seen it before-always distant, always silent. Always watching.
But this time, it spoke.
"...Mother."
The word floated on the wind, strange and heavy.
Miexha looked up, startled. "What...?"
The golden bunny tilted its head, eyes glowing faintly.
"I'm sorry," it whispered.
"I didn't mean to... bring you here."
It turned, hopping slowly away-as if inviting her to follow.
And she did.
The field melted beneath her feet. Grass blurred into stone. Trees twisted into black iron gates.
A graveyard.
The golden bunny stopped before a forgotten headstone.
Miexha stepped closer. A name was etched into the stone, but the letters swam like smoke. A photo frame rested at the base-but the picture was missing.
Only emptiness.
The golden bunny sat beside it.
"I was jealous," it said.
"I thought if I... turned back time, things would be different."
Its voice cracked.
"I was trapped in glass. Cold. Lonely. I just wanted to be born into a complete family..."
The scenery twisted.
Now they stood at a child's birthday party. Balloons sagged. The words Happy Birthday flickered above them. A stage made of toy blocks stood in the center.
On it, the white bunny lay again.
Below, the golden bunny trembled.
"I pushed her," she said.
"I only wanted to scare her. I didn't mean to... I didn't know it would..."
Tears soaked into her golden fur.
The dream shifted again.
Now the golden bunny loomed over one of the black bunnies-her tiny paw stomping. Again. And again. Then, she bit.
Miexha screamed, running forward-but it was too late.
Blood darkened the earth.
"I killed her," the bunny sobbed.
"She got everything. She stole my man. And now..."
