"So, when did he leave this morning?" I asked Evelyn as I took a sit at the dinning table. "Past 6 am" she answered and I sighed and took another sip of the tea.

I had slept off when he arrived and when he left this morning, I was still asleep.

If only marriage was this easy.

"Should I make breakfast to go or..."

"No, I do have brunch with my family today. I won't be going to the office, I will have breakfast here" I interrupted her and she nodded.

I glanced back to see Jeffrey rooted like a statue behind me, always in a suit. "Didn't you hear me Jeffrey, I'm not going anywhere until 11, so you could take a break or something" I called but he didn't budge.

"Is he human?" I muttered to myself, taking another sip from the mug.

Moments later, as I headed down the hall. Kourtney called me. "Mrs Ferrari, aren't you gonna be coming to work today?"

"I don't really feel like it" I replied, not going down the hall to my room but the other. I felt lazy this morning.

"We get it, you can't resist the charm of your husband but we've got work!"

"You've always wanted me to settle down and relax. I'm doing that now" I answered, pausing at a door on my left.

"I'm just kidding, what's up? The Simpsons are literally flooding your office with gifts"

"They love me now after I made a guest appearance at their wedding " I muttered, pushing the door open.

I stepped into the large room, its towering shelves lining either side, with two expansive windows framing the grand desk at the center.

This was his study. I walked in further, the atmosphere heavy with the scent of polished wood and faint cologne.

"As thet should," I said into the phone, leaning against the desk. "Anyways, I'm just checking up on you. Marriage is really making you scarce."

"Aww, so you miss me?" I teased, settling onto the edge of the table.

"Shut up," came the sharp reply.

"I'm having brunch with the family today," I said, absently spinning a pen between my fingers. "Gotta prep myself."

"They love you now. You're married."

"Of course, they love me," I quipped with a smirk, tapping the pen lightly against the desk. "Anyways, I'll show up on Monday."

"Bye, boss," the call ended abruptly.

I sighed, letting the phone drop into my lap as I leaned back in the chair. The desk was immaculately organized-a sleek lamp, a cup of pens, and not much else. My curiosity got the better of me, and I tugged open one of the drawers. Files. Lots of them.

But I wasn't about snooping.

What the hell was I even trying to find?

The car rolled into the surrounding, it pulled up and immediately Jeffrey appeared and pulled my door open. I wore a mint green silk body con dress.

It was sleeveless and hiked up at the left side. My hair was straightened back, I grabbed my little bag and stepped out.

He shut the door behind me and was about following me in. "No, you'll wait here" I stopped him.

"It's a family event, take a break. This will take a while" I told him before heading in and thankfully he didn't follow.
