I shut the door and headed to the elevator. It's Tuesday, I wore a black mini skirt and and a white silk long sleeve shirt tucked in, my hair in a ponytail.
The doors slid open and I stepped out and headed to my car. My phone began ringing as I walked past other cars in the underground parking lot.
I glanced at the caller ID and immediately halted, It was my Mother.
Why was she calling?
I sucked in a breath before answered. "Good morning, Mom"
"Why didn't you show up at brunch yesterday?" She fired immediately. "What brunch?" I asked back.
"I know Derrick invited you. He was kind enough to" she said and I rolled my eyes. "I did tell him I wasn't gonna make it" I replied, pulling my car open.
"I want to see you at lunch today, you know it is the week after your sister's wedding, the least you could do is be here but No! You're back to work"
I was quiet as she rambled. "We are still at the Villa and you better show up early this time" the call ended after that and I let out a sigh before getting in and driving out.
Moments later.
I put on my shade as stepped out of the car, I walked to the double door. Throwing it open, I stopo when I saw a man in my lobby.
Taking off the shades, i stepped in fully.
My receptionist immediately comported herself once she saw me, the man turned around...oh wait, it's Eric!
Bethany's boyfriend.
I rolled my eyes and walked forward, he was all in a black suit and was definitely flirting with my receptionist.
"Miss Vega" he called and I pushed out a smile. "Mr Fidel, what a lovely surprise. What brings you here?"
"To plan my wedding with Bethany, of course" he joked as always, I had to pretend to find it funny...as always too.
"Must I say, the wedding on Saturday was fantastic" his British accent was so eminent.
Bethany found it sexy for some reason, I'm sure that's the only reason she was still with him.
"Oh, that's great. What did you find more appealing? The women or the alcohol?" I asked and he bursted out laughing.
This was how we joked, hiding the truth behind the witty comments.
I chuckled too. "Well, have you called Bethany?" I asked the receptionist and before she could reply...
"Baby!" Bethany called out and he turned around to her and in seconds, they were sucking each other face in.
I just walked out of there and headed up the stairs. There was Kourtney. "Eric?" She asked. "Yep" I answered, pushing open the door to my office. I sighed once I got in, hanging my coat at the rackq.
"What do you have for me today?" I asked, settling on my seat. "Well, your mom called to schedule a lunch by 2"
"She called here?" I asked in disbelief. "Yes and she said it's a must you attend"
"Why? What use is my presence there aside being dragged by the whole family?" I asked. "You can't miss it"
"I'm definitely missing it"
"Pearl come on, I know your Mother could be hard on you but this is her way of bringing you back to the family"
"Well, it's unconventional"
"I'm gonna make sure you attend it. Moving on, Mr Simmons is no longer suing and has even agreed to pay for expenses. You both should come to an agreement at a dinner or something, I could schedule one tonight "
