My alarm beeped violently in my ear and I groaned and reaching for it, l turned it off.

I sighed and drifted back to sleep but then my phone began ringing from a distance.

I groaned and pressed the pillow over my face, hoping it will stop and it did, I let out a fulfilled sigh but then it began ringing again.

I threw the pillow away in frustration and sat up, I rubbed my eyes and reached for my phone. I blindly answered and fell back on the bed.

"What?" I asked the person on the other side. "Do you know what time it is?" I heard Kourtney ask. "What do you want?" I murmured, drifting slowly back to sleep.

"It's 7:45am, Pearl! Our visitors are gonna be here in 15 minutes!" She exclaimed and my eyes shot open immediately, I glanced at the clock and she was right.

I sat up. "Please, don't tell me you're still in bed"

"I'm not" I ended the call immediately and ran to the bathroom, the sleep completely gone. I'm the world shittiest boss!

Moments later.

I struggled with the zipper of my dress. My laptop on the sofa and lots of papers scattered on the table. I finally zipped the dress close and I grabbed my heels.

My phone buzzed on the table, I was already 10 minutes late, yeah, my hair took a lot of time. It's one thing to be late and it's another to be fashionably late and knowing me...I chose the latter.

I wore a black body con dress, it had a wooly texture and long sleeves with thumb holes. I arranged the files and shove it into a binder.

I didn't even finish the work last night.

I put on my heels hurriedly and headed out, I shut the door, my bag over my shoulder, the binder in hand and my phone still ringing. I got into the elevator and let out a frustrated sigh.

This whole thing is shitty! I wonder what their reaction will be when they find out I am the fiancée.

And now I'm wondering why I told them nothing about this whole thing, that's shitty on my part.

It will be a whole ass explanation and I'm not looking forward to. The ride came to an abrupt end, and I got out, bracing myself as I headed toward the exit.

Just as I reached the door, I saw them, two of Travis’s ever-present bodyguards waiting beside a line of sleek black cars.

What was he doing here?

With a sigh, I walked toward the car as one of the guards opened the door for me. I climbed in and, unsurprisingly, found Travis already there, looking as composed as ever.

“You’re late,” he remarked coolly.

“No kidding.” I crossed my arms and leaned back, my mind racing. I wasn’t ready for this, not even close. My friends wouldn’t believe any of it, they knew me too well.

“You’re fidgeting,” he observed, his eyes flicking over to me just as my phone buzzed again. I picked it up, Kourtney’s name flashing on the screen.

“Where are you?” she demanded.

“On my way,” I replied, hanging up and tossing the phone aside.

“Someone’s in a mood,” Travis said with a smirk.

I shot him a glare. “Easy for you to say. This is nerve-wracking for me.”

“Didn’t think you scared easily,” he murmured. His smugness was almost irritating.

“These are my friends, Travis. They’ll see right through me.” I shook my head as he chuckled, clearly finding my discomfort amusing.
