Pretending to be a couple and pretending to be smitten by each other are two different things which were hard In their own aspect.
Rosa had to be convinced, I took advantage of the situation and made Travis take me out to places and dates. In return, I allowed him to grope and kiss me. It's pretty fair now.
The week ran out and before I knew it I was at the airport welcoming my family. They arrived on Wednesday. Today, I wore a yellow sundress, my hair in a ponytail.
Aunt Regina was the first to get down the jet. "Pearl, have you stopped eating? You look like a twig!" She called out as expected. The uncles came down and then Bella.
She squealed and ran to me and pulled me into an embrace. "I can't believe this is happening"
Natalia too came down. "What's she doing here? "
"What do you mean?" Bella asked. Once I saw Aunt Lucy, I squealed and ran to her. "Okay okay" she calmed me down.
"Where is the car?" Aunt Regina inquired. "I didn't expect you to make it"
"So, you really think I was gonna miss your wedding? " She asked and I laughed. My mother finally came down, I moved back and comported myself, she stopped in front of me. "I'm glad you could make it, Mother "
She gave me a once over. "I hope you've been well behaved? " She asked and I smiled. "Of course"
"Pearl! " Someone else called out and when I turned, I saw my Aunt Martha getting down the jet
"I thought she was in Cleveland" I whispered to Aunt Lucy. "She was, alright"
She pulled me into a hug. "You couldn't even call me to tell me about your wedding!" She yelled. "I thought -"
"You are all grown up. Have I really missed out so much? Bella got married and no one told-"
"Alright, let's go!" Aunt Regina cut her off as the SUVs lined up in front of us.
Thankfully I was pulled away by Bella. "She found out about the wedding somehow and insisted on coming along. After all, she's your godmother"
"I reject that" I replied and she laughed. "What about Derrick?" I asked as we got into the last ride with Aunt Lucy. "Oh, he's definitely gonna be coming before the wedding, he just couldn't leave right away"
"It's okay"
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he doesn't show up at all, after the shit he pulled in my last night in LA. "What about the girls, when will they be coming?"
"This Saturday"
She let out a fulfilled sigh and leaned back on the seat. I turned to Aunt Lucy. "I'm glad you came"
"It's your wedding, Pearl. I wanna know if you'll go through with it" she replied and I chuckled. My favourite for a reason.
"What's up with Mom though?"
"You know how they do be at events like this"
"Mine was a nightmare...to me" Bella chided. "She wants everything to go perfect, although she did complain about how inconvenient the venue was"
"That's exactly what I was going for" I said flatly, falling back on the seat.
Some may be relieved that their family flew all the way here to be by their side but for me... It got harder. My mother would make me walk on egg shells from now on.
Mrs Rosa had invited everyone for dinner, so we dropped straight at the house. There was lots of hugging and greetings. Apparently, my Mom knew how to speak their language, so they were catching up.
