Madeenah's POV
In the past week, Muhammad has taken me on two other dates. One was to the horse-riding place and this time I got on my own horse. The second was to an interactive museum. Both were places I wanted to go to and I romanticized as much. It's like he's reading my mind and digging deep to find all the places I've imagined going to.
Three dates in the span of seven days. He sure is determined. I asked him whether he still goes to the office with the amount of time he spends with me and in Mami's house. He said , and I quote, "If my staff can't handle me working from home scarcely then I haven't done my job properly."
So yeah, Muhammad is literally here everyday. He says it's because he is visiting Mami and Inayah but he always manages to end up in the annex with me or any place I coincidentally am at. I like it though. Especially when he cooks for me in the annex and when he makes me soup after I vomit.
This morning sickness is a lie, it's everyday sickness. I can barely keep anything down and I get so tired and lethargic that cooking drains me, so I appreciate any time he comes to cook, mostly cause he looks so hot when moving around the kitchen and his food always tastes good.
Today I have to go to school and yesterday while he was cooking he kept insisting on driving me or the driver but I wasn't giving in at all. He had a scowl on his face as he kept trying to convince me not to drive. I told him he can't control me anymore and that he's being entirely unreasonable which he then countered with 'You're pregnant Madeenah if you haven't noticed."
Now that frustrated me so I said, "I have very much noticed with the amount of time I spend with my head in the toilet. It's your fault. You got me pregnant."
"Well thank god we've straightened that part out, now stop being stubborn and let me drive you." He said with his permanent scowl.
"No. And you can't stop me." I turned and left him standing in the kitchen and went to my... his room.
I came out after I heard the front door closing, to find my favorite chicken soup that he loves making, along with garlic bread. It almost made me cry and call him and apologize but I held my ground.
Which brings me to now. I pack my bag for school, along with a toothbrush and mouthwash just in case. I'm busy making sure my wallet and ID are in my bag when I enter the living room to find Mami there.
"Ina kwana Mami." I greet her.
"Ahh Madeenah am. Do you have class today?" She asks as she scans me from head to toe.
"Yes Mami. My defense is coming up soon." I tell her.
"Okay toh let me not keep you." She says with a smile, heading towards the door. "I hope you're not driving though." She says as she stops by the door.
I smile sheepishly and rub the side of my nose. "I am Mami."
"Madeenah you shouldn't drive in your condition."
"Don't worry Mami. I'm fine. I can handle driving." I say.
"No Madeenah please. Promise me you'll take the driver." Mami says sternly.
"But Mami..." I start
"No buts. Promise me." She says.
I sigh resignedly, "Okay Mami. I promise."
She gives me a soft, approving smile before she leaves. I sigh, kinda annoyed that Muhammad's wish has come through. I finish grabbing my stuff and then I leave the annex and lock the door behind me. Inayah slept in the main house yesterday so no need to keep it open. I turn to head towards the cars where the driver usually is when I stop in my tracks. Muhammad is leaning against his car, wearing a black suit and aviator glasses. He looks so fine it hurts. And it's worse when he takes off the glasses and stares at me.
