*** Randheera ***

"So now I am supposed to investigate a kid," I sighed in frustration after going through the report, "because, oh well, my genius soldier decided that bringing him here would be the best option."

"Believe me, sir," Ashok said confidently, "If you can't do it, nobody can!"

"Did your commanding officer Vinod teach you this trick?" I asked, annoyed.

Ashok looked down and slowly nodded.

"He said that is the only trick that would work even after getting caught," he replied.

"Tell him I am going to have a talk with him later to prove him otherwise," I said and walked in to find Yashoda chatting with the kid.

"And then there is Laalithya who asked this really smart question of..." she was talking about our kids from the orphanage.

"Ahem," I cleared my throat to get their attention.

"General sir," she said excitedly as she walked towards me, "I was just telling Vivek about..."

"Yeah, yeah, I heard," I cut her off. "You should leave."

"Oh, you have work," she said and turned back to Vivek, "Come, Vivek, let's..."

"Alone," I emphasized.

"Why?" she asked innocently, "I can't leave the kid in..."

"Do you trust me, Yashu?" I interrupted.

"Yes, but..."

"Then you should go," I added, and she fell silent.

"The situation is not as simple as you thought," I said calmly, "But it's not as complicated as my actions are going to make you think either. Everything will be alright, but I need you to not interrupt my duty."

Yashu looked at me, then at the kid, and then back at me.

"Will you tell me what happened to Vivek after you get home?" she asked.

"I will," I assured.

"Will you tell me without using any wordplay or deception?" she asked again.

I slightly chuckled before nodding again. "I will," I promised.

She nodded, looked back at Vivek, waved him goodbye for one last time before heading home.

Once she left, I walked towards Vivek and sat on the chair across the table.

"How was the food, buddy?" I asked.

"It was really tasty, sir," he replied.

I nodded.

"Do you know why you are here?" I asked again.

"Because we are the enemies hiding in your kingdom," he replied.

I was supposed to be stern, but his mature responses simultaneously melted my heart and broke it.

"What do you think is going to happen to you now?" I asked and noticed the fear coming back to his face.

Wrong question?

"I...don't know...sir," he hesitantly replied, "but...but please don't send me to the torture room."
