*** Randheera ***
KLINK KLINK KLINK
I tried to focus my attention on the battle with Deva but for some reason all I could think of was Yashoda's tears yesterday. I promised her happiness and respect, yet ended up being the reason for her tears.
Why did I...
My thoughts were interrupted when Deva's fierce strike forced my sword onto the ground. I looked at the sword and then at Deva.
I am supposed to be offended now, and am supposed to feel bad for having to praise him, yet none of them mattered. All that mattered was Yashoda's tears.
"All hail...." I tried to nonchalantly say.
"No need," Deva interrupted, "It's not a victory if the opponent isn't paying attention."
"I apologize, your highness," I said sincerely as I picked up the sword, "Let's battle again. I promise to focus."
"Leave me and the general alone," Deva commanded without paying attention to my apology and soon enough all the guards left.
"I don't need your apology Dheera," he said looking at me, "I want to know what's going on in your mind."
I sighed.
"I am conflicted," I replied.
"About?" Deva asked.
"Yashu called me stupid Kheera," I replied.
"She did WHAT?" even Deva was shocked.
Why wouldn't he be? He is the King and my best friend but even he respected me enough to not call me stupid. My own guards never took my name in disrespect. Even the ministers, and foreign kings always address me with respect but Yashu called me "stupid". No one else would dare to....except for the snake maybe....but again....I torment him enough to get revenge for that.....with Yashu....with Yashu I feel like going to her and apologizing for getting angry at being called stupid.
"Did you do something stupid?" Deva's next question got my attention.
"At the time of her calling me stupid, no," I replied.
"Did you do something stupid after she called you stupid?" Deva asked.
"Maybe," I whispered as I remembered the way I scared her. "What do you think I should do?" I asked, looking at him.
"Bhabhisa called you stupid when you did not do anything stupid and then you went and did something stupid," Deva summarized, "Certainly enough information to allow me to provide my valuable insights."
I remained silent.
How am I supposed to tell the king that I am getting distracted from my duties because of a woman?
"Talk to her after work, in a calm and civilized manner," Deva suggested to me based on the limited information provided, "Ask your heart why you did what you did. Ask bhabhisa why she did what she did and talk things through," he added, "Silence and worrying will get you nowhere."
"Will do," I whispered as I nodded.
Deva is right. All I need to do is talk.
So I finished the work early and went home before sunset. As I did I saw Shanthi walking outside my chambers, probably after meeting Yashu.
