Do look into the author's note after you finish this chapter, there is a poll to choose the language of the North amongst the four shortlisted options. These four were chosen after I took all the initial suggestions and then asked on my conversation board if any readers would be able to help me with those languages.

Only Marathi, Odia, Bengali, and Gujarathi had at least three readers willing to help.So unfortunately I cannot accommodate any other language at this moment.

In order to vote, you need to go to the comment section and see the comments by me that says

Like this comment if you want x language.

Like the comment that has whatever language you prefer.

Note: Only the likes that were made to the four comments made by me would be counted. Commenting your favorite language will not be taken into consideration. You need to like.

Else it would be too hectic to keep track, so please like ❤️

If this is confusing, read the author's note. The instructions are clearer there.

This chapter has 2000+ words and ends with a question, make sure you read till the end.

"Yodha, the warrior," I heard Vinod whisper to himself as he came out of the King's chamber with the small statue in his hand but stopped when he saw me.

"Good morning, general sir," he greeted.

"Morning," I greeted, "Where did you get that?"

"Saw it on the King's table," he replied with his eyes full of joy, "Fell in love, his highness noticed it and now it's mine."

"That's good," I nodded.

Deva is certainly a good king! He can accommodate any and every different mindset.

"He said it's my wedding gift," Vinod added.

"What?" I said, offended.

The 'oh so generous and righteous king' threw a paper weight at me when I told him about my marriage. I got no statue as a wedding gift.

This is so unfair!

I am offended!

"I..uh...I think I should leave now, sir," Vinod hesitantly said upon noticing the change of expression on my face.

"Wait," I stopped him as I remembered Shanthi.

"Shanthi sent food for you," I added, "I did not want anyone to mess with it for security reasons, so I left it with Madhav at the entrance. Pick it up from him."

"Really?" Vinod asked both happy and surprised.

"Why would I lie?" I replied.

"Right," Vinod nodded.

"Your wife also seems to be worried for you," I added, "Visit here if you find time between shifts."

"Sure sir," Vinod nodded.

KNOCK KNOCK

I rushed to the door the moment I heard the knock hoping it would be Vinod, but to my disappointment it was someone else, another soldier.

"Greetings sister," he greeted me and I greeted back. "Vinod sir sent you this," he said as he showed the basket with the food that I've sent him and my smile immediately disappeared.
