*** Shanthi***
"Tea for you," I said and put the cup on the dressing table while Vinod continued to get dressed for the day and was about to leave but stopped when Vinod held my hand.
"Did I do something wrong?" he asked innocently.
You adopted 6 sons, Vinod!
YOU ADOPTED 6 SONS AND DID NOT EVEN CHOOSE TO INFORM ME, LET ALONE CONSENT!
WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WHOM DID YOU INTRODUCE AS THEIR MOTHER IF YOU ADOPTED THEM BEFORE MARRIAGE!!!
"Shanthi?" Vinod called again.
Right, right, good wife!
"No," I replied with a smile, "Not at all."
"Are you still angry about me for raising my voice against you for the general?" he asked.
"No, nothing like that, officer," I replied politely, "I am not angry."
"Alright," Vinod nodded, "Sit down. There is something I want to do to you."
Torture?
Was he offended by my passive aggressiveness?
Am I in trouble?
"Do what?" I asked worriedly.
"You'll find out, sit," VInod commanded, pointing to the bed and I slowly sat on the bed while he opened the desk on his side and ran through his weapons.
I am doomed.
He turned to me in the middle of his search and noticed the panic in my eyes but did not comment on that.
I wonder if I could run now and reach bhabhisa before he could start torturing me.
My thoughts were interrupted when he came back with a pen and a bottle of ink.
"Give me your hand," he said.
"W-why?" I asked.
Vinod did not answer and simply smiled as he took the hand himself and extended my fingers. I instinctively rolled them back.
"Keep them extended, Shanthi," he emphasized and took the pen in his hand.
He is going to stab my hand with the pen!
Or so I thought, until he dipped it in the ink and started drawing on my hand and that is when I realized....it is not ink....it is alta.
"Using cotton doesn't allow for sharp lines, so I came up with this creative way," he explained as he started to draw the flower in the middle of my palm and I took a sign of relief while simultaneously falling in love with him.
"You thought I was about to torture you, didn't you?" he asked with a smile.
"You noticed?" I asked.
"It was pretty obvious," he stated, "which is why I acted even more suspicious taking inspiration from your chaotic western side."
"That's just a stereotype," I lied, "I am not chaotic. I am a calm and good wife."
"You said you would break Vayu's neck!" he reminded me, and I immediately started panicking.
