*** Yashoda ***

"What?" I asked confused, "They are enemies?"

"Yes bhabhisa," Shanthi replied, "They are enemies! Vinod also said that the reason he asked the general to scold him is because of love. He just wanted to see me smile and the reason the general looked at you like that is because he loves you."

"No Shanthi," I immediately replied, "He does not. He already told that before marriage, I told you right."

"Maybe he lied bhabhisa," Shanthi stated.

"Why would the general of the state lie infront of everyone, especially when he has no reason to?" I asked.

"True," she replied, "Maybe..." she suggested, "Maybe he did not love then but fell in love now?"

"No Shanthi," I shook my head sadly, "I see the way devarsa cares for you and looks at you. The general does not look at or care for me like that. Neither should I expect him to, given that he only married me to save me." "But sometimes," I added my voice breaking a little, "sometimes when I see the other couples, I do wish that....maybe....just maybe....things were a little different."

Shanthi placed her hand on my shoulder.

"Things will get better bhabhisa," she assured, "They always will. Trust your God."

I nodded and smiled.

"Can I ask you something bhabhisa?" Shanthi said hesitantly, "a very personal question."

"What is it Shanthi?" I asked.

"If..." she paused in hesitation before continuing, "Given the circumstances of your marriage, what about the...the...the three day ritual."

I looked at her surprised, slightly offended that she asked this question.

"You...you don't have to answer it bhabhisa," she immediately replied, "I am sorry I even asked."

I remained silent. She remained silent and in between those awakward moments I started to think.

I am away from family and the very thought of consummating our marriage is overwhelming me. I need someone to share my fears and so far Shanthi has been nothing but a good friend....so....maybe....

(Let us all close our eyes for a moment and remember how Meihu had these conversations with Vaishu 😂Note: I don't hate you, I just need more comments aur mangne ka tarika thoda cazual hai)

"Don't tell anyone," I slowly started and began to confess.

"Nothing happened yet but, Shanthi I am so scared," I said outloud, "So very scared Shanthi. The whole thing seems so strange and....and today is day 3 meaning we'll have to....and...and everytime I think about it my hands start to shiver....I've known him for only 2 days and even in those 2 days....he was outside most of the time.....how am I supossed to...."

"Bhabhisa calm down," Shanthi said holding my hands, "If you don't want to, you don't have to."

"What?" I asked confused.

"You told me that general sir doesn't know or follow any traditions unless you inform him," she stated, "Don't inform him."

"No Shanthi," I immediately opossed, "Traditions are probably there for a reason."

"Honestly bhabhisa," Shanthi replied, "I don't see any reason for this. If anything, for me, it ruined our relationship and made me fear Vinod, despite him being a very good man."
