KNOCK KNOCK
The knock on the door brought back my hope as I rushed to open it, expecting, hoping and praying to find Vinod and to my surprise God actually heard me, but for some reason....Vinod still remained serious holding some papers in his hand.
"Still angry?" I asked carefully.
"What else am I supossed to do?" he said walking in, "Be happy that it took me weeks and months to make sure my wife doesn't fear me only for one silly dream to ruin it all."
"Vinnu I...."
"No talking for two days," he interrupted as he placed the papers on the table and went to get a stamp pad.
"Need your finger prints," he said as he placed the stamp pad beside me.
"For what?" I asked confused.
"You don't trust me?" he asked and I was left with no choice.
I turned my eyes to look at the paper filled with writing and random squares...this looks like a checklist...checklist for what?
Whatever....I trust my husband
"Where do you want my fingeprints?"I asked and he moved a little to stand behind me and took a step forward, unintentionally getting closer as his one hand lightly touched my waist while he examined the papers. As his other hand reached out to the stamp pad, his chest touched the back of my head, almost making me want to melt into his arms.
This is attractive, don't ask me why
"Here," he said pointing to the corner of the paper.
Why should I put my fingerprints on something I don't even understand?
Whatever....I trust my husband!
I pressed my finger into the stamp pad and slowly brought it closer to the paper. I was almost about to approve it, but Vinod held my hand at the last minute.
"Me and my stupid values," he whispered to himself in frustration before taking the papers and walking away.
He took a few steps, sighned and then turned back.
"I was drinking all night and now I am extremely tired, have a terrible headache and hangover," he stated, "I asked general sir for leave with loss of pay. He was kind enough to give me a sick leave but made it conditional."
With all the fancy terms you used Vinod, I don't understand a word other than the fact that you are sick and you probably deserve it for drinking all night like an idiot.
I was sad too but ate a lot of sweets, cried and went to bed like a normal person
"He made you incharge," Vinod continued.
"Meaning?" I asked.
"Meaning I am supossed to drink atleast 2 liters of water, eat three nutritious meals and sleep atleast 8 hours today. You will have to verify if I did all that, tick the boxes accordingly and submit the repot to the general."
"Really?" I asked surprised.
Vinod nodded.
"It also means I am not allowed to raise my voice or talk back to you," he added.
"What happens if you do?" I asked.
"I'll be in trouble," he replied. "Real trouble," he emphasized as if he remembered his past trauma. "Real trouble," he repeated for the third time making me wonder what the hell happened before.
