*** Yashoda ***
"I need to ask you something," I told him as he stood in front of the dressing table, getting ready for his day.
"What is it, my love?" he said casually as he adjusted his hair, "A kiss?"
I fell silent for a brief moment before quickly composing myself and changing my words.
"I need to ask for two things," I corrected.
The general smiled and shook his head. He gently placed his hand on the back of my head and pulled me a little closer, kissing me on the cheek.
"What's the second one?" he whispered before picking up one of his badges to put on his uniform.
Can I ask for another kiss? No no Yashu....be serious....
"I met Vishnu anna yesterday," I started.
"Why?" he interrupted, "Did you experience a sudden drop in your levels of insanity and felt a deep desire to bring them back up?"
A part of me told me to remain silent, but I decided to rebel.
"Can you please be respectful to my people?" I said, offended.
"Of course, I am respectful to your people, my love," he replied calmly, "Have you seen me talk to your mother?"
"I was referring to my brother and my father," I corrected.
"Who said they are people?" he countered, "One is a snake and the other is a monster."
I angrily glared at him.
"Alright tiger, don't bite," he immediately compromised and changed the topic. "You met your Vishnu anna," he said, adjusting my hair, which I believe he was doing on purpose to calm me down, "What happened after that?"
"He said that he and vadina are trying a new herb that they believe would help them have children," I replied.
"Yes, I know," he replied.
"How do you know?" I asked, surprised.
"The snake told me," he replied.
"Why would he tell you?" I asked, even more surprised, "You are enemies!"
"I don't know," he shrugged, "Guess the brother is as much of a cuttlefish as his sister."
"Oye," I said, offended.
"Fine, not as much as you," he said, raising his hands, "You still hold the first place, happy? Self-obsession satisfied?"
"You are self-obsessed, and you are a cuttlefish," I opposed angrily.
"Did you just disrespect the general while he is in uniform?" he said, pointing towards his badge, and I fell silent. "The nice kind women of pri—"
"Stop teasing me, or I'll complain to my brother," I interrupted.
"The snake isn't going to..."
"Deva anna," I corrected, and he fell silent.
Can't believe this worked!
"Alright, continue," he said after a while, "The snake and Kusuma bhabhisa are trying to have children, and?"
"It seems Kusuma vadina is very worried about the outcome and has been constantly feeling low and depressed," I continued.
"Poor her," the general said genuinely, "Maybe you and Shanthi should spend time with her," he continued, "Distract her a little."
"Meaning I can go to the intellectuals' compound?" I asked.
