KNOCK KNOCK
Pritham opened the door while he and the other boys were singing and dancing to themselves.
"Shh calm down," he yelled at his friends making the crowd go silent before turning towards me, "Vadina (SIL) is here too?" he asked.
Oh, so that's why he silenced the crowd....out of respect for Shanthi....not for me....idiot!
"No," I interrupted and pushed him away to enter the Bachelor's compound.
I used to live here before marriage.
"Party continues," Pritham almost yelled in my ear and the dancing and singing started once again.
"Do you not see how depressed I am?" I asked angrily, "and you still wish to party?"
"Would you rather drag us all into depression than raise to our level and be happy?" he argued and I rolled my eyes.
"Here," he said giving me a glass.
"I don't drink," I replied.
"This is grape juice brother," Pritham replied, "I have shift in a couple of hours. Had a lovely experience with the general the last time I drank before duty, so wouldn't dare to do it again."
I took the glass from his hand and took a sip.
"Why is Ashok here?" I asked looking at Ashok at a distance, "Isn't he married?"
"Turns out the soldiers compound is the unoffical mother's home of all married soldiers," Pritam chuckled, "They fight with their wives. They come running here."
"I did not fight with my wife," I said offended.
"Sure," Pritam said sarcastically.
How rude!
Wait, he has night shift....that means I can take his bed.
"Pritham, brother, can I....."
"Don't even think about it," he cut me off.
"What is he blabbering about?" Santosh another friend of mine from the South asked.
"He has night shift and I was about to ask if I could take his bed," I replied.
"And he said no?" Santosh concluded, "Good! I wouldn't allow either."
"You have night shift too?" I asked.
"Mmm Hmm," he nodded.
"Then can I...."
"You can't," he interrupted.
"Santosh you are the best soldier I've ever seen," I tried my luck.
"Will you say it everyday for the next 30 days?" he asked.
"Fine, I will," I reluctantly agreed.
"Here," Santosh said and gave me the keys.
(The reason they were reluctant to give the bed is because once they finish their 8 hour shift they want to come and crash in their room, but if someone else is sleeping on their bed, they have to wake them up first which is annoying)

The next day, I woke up once again, got ready and made my way to the general's room. The first three days of our marriage are over and he doesn't have to put bangles on me anymore, but my bangles are still in his room.
