The Gallaghers head straight to the hospital after hearing the news. Though they were abruptly woken by V and the bad news, they are now fully awake. Twenty-five minutes after Lip is admitted, the family walks through the hallway, searching for their brother. Everyone silently hopes he'll be okay. They eventually find where they need to be.
Fiona, the leader of the pack, is the first to spot Lip. The blond is lying in a hospital bed, his eyes closed, with multiple machines next to him. A doctor stands nearby and quickly notices their arrival, already guessing who they are.
"Are you here for Phillip Gallagher?" the doctor asks.
"Yes, we're his family." Fiona responds, still looking disheveled from just waking up. "How is he?"
"He was brought in with severe alcohol poisoning. We've stabilized his condition, but he's still unconscious. He's receiving IV fluids to help flush the alcohol out of his system and medications to prevent seizures."
"Will he be okay?" Ian asks, concern evident in his voice.
"We're cautiously optimistic. His vital signs are improving, but we need to monitor him closely for the next 24 hours. Alcohol poisoning can be very dangerous, and there's a risk of complications like aspiration pneumonia, which could occur if he inhaled any vomit while unconscious. Additionally, he has some significant bruising on his nose, stomach, and legs, which we're also treating. You can see him, but please understand he's still unresponsive and may remain so for a while. It's important that he has a quiet environment to aid his recovery."
"How long will he need to stay here?" Carl asks the next question.
"That depends on how he responds to treatment." The doctor replies. "If all goes well, he might be able to go home in a day or two. But he'll need to rest and avoid alcohol completely for a significant period."
Fiona looks relieved. "Thank you, doctor."
"We'll keep you updated on his progress. You can go in and see him now, but please keep the visit short and quiet." With that, the doctor departs.
The family moves closer to Lip, gathering around his bed. They observe how slowly he breathes in and out. Red bruises are visible around his nose and on his exposed chest.
"Goddamn it, Lip..." Fiona mutters, feeling a mix of anger and worry as she processes the aftermath of Lip's drinking.
"The doctor said something about seizures." Debbie speaks up. "Is that a thing with alcohol poisoning?"
"Yes. Thank God someone was with him." Ian responds, looking relieved. "If he'd been alone... he wouldn't have made it."
"Where even was he?" Carl asks, still confused as to why Veronica was the one who told them the news.
"He was with Y/N." Fiona answers. She glances at her siblings. "Lip probably called him while drunk. Y/N picked him up and likely offered to stay the night with him."
"So that's what the call was about..." Carl mutters as his eyes return to Lip.
"Y/N woke up to Lip having a seizure. If he hadn't..." Fiona lets out a tired sigh, her voice trailing off. "We'll stay here for a couple more minutes. After that, I want you all to go home and continue with your day."
"What about you?" Ian asks.
"I'll stay with him. I'll let you all know if anything happens."
