Working at the White Orchid, Y/N enjoys his time there far more than at any of his previous jobs. Unlike the last restaurant he worked at, this place is run by competent people. Hygiene actually exists here. The ingredients he uses are fresh and top-notch, and the kitchen is spacious enough that he doesn't feel trapped.

Overall, if there's one thing Y/N has learned, it's that screwing over other people to succeed might just be the right thing to do.

Although the short time he's worked there has been great, he already took a vacation break — tomorrow is finally the start of Frank's trial. Since the number of charges is so high, the case is set to take place over several days.

While Y/N is cleaning his station, he sees his boss walking toward him. The man, Ronald Flynn, is the complete opposite of his last boss — professional, healthy, and while stern, not an asshole.

"You did good."

"Thanks, chef."

"I just wanted to wish you good luck." Flynn says as Y/N stops cleaning to look back at him. "Even though you've only worked here a little over a week, I can tell you've got talent. Make sure you come out of it a better man."

"Yes, chef."

"After you clean your station, you're free to go." Flynn adds. "Get some rest."

Y/N gives his boss a small smile. "Thank you, chef."

While putting the children to bed, Lip and Y/N anxiously wait for the next day. Although they're confident Frank will be put behind bars, they still wonder whether he was bluffing when he pleaded not guilty. Whatever card he plays, there's no way the bastard of the man walks away free.

As Y/N gently lays Kate in the crib, he looks over at Lip, who's holding Lyn. Lip stares at his daughter, the memory of her being kidnapped by Frank still fresh.

"We're going to be fine." Lip looks up at Y/N, who already knows what he's thinking. "You, me, the kids... we're all going to be okay."

"I know..." Lip murmurs, and he places Lyn in the crib as well. "It's just... they mean the world to me. I know there's no way Frank is going to be free, but just thinking about him taking even one of them..." He takes a deep breath. "It freaks me out."

"I understand." Y/N says softly. "How about I ask someone to get you a gun as a wedding present?"

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Lip snorts, though he knows Y/N is serious. "I think it's enough if one of us carries a gun."

"You sure?" Y/N pulls his pistol from his back belt and shows it. "Since you stay at the house, it might be good to have something to defend yourself with."

"I don't trust myself around alcohol, food, drugs, pills—do I need to keep going? You think it's a good idea to give me a gun?" Lip asks.

"Like you can get addicted to guns." Y/N teases.

"You lived on the South Side for two and a half years. I don't think you should be saying that." Lip is amused as Y/N puts the gun away. "But thanks. I'll stick with knives."

"You want me to train you?" Y/N offers.

Lip sighs, though he's entertained. "How about we let Carl guard the house? I doubt he'll ever move out."

Y/N chuckles. "True. Let's just get the rest to bed and rest."
