It's December the 30th, one day before the final day of 2024. In about a week, the family will leave the country. After New Year, there will be a week left, Fred's birthday, and soon after that, they will set off. Although things aren't perfect, Lip tries his best to remedy his relationships with his siblings before he goes.
Thus, together with Fiona, Debbie, Carl, and Liam, he's sitting around the living room. With the kids, Y/N, as well as Franny back in the kitchen, the siblings are chatting about anything and everything.
"You're feeling any better?" Debbie asks her older sister.
"I'm... not sure." Fiona responds. "I'm just thinking a lot about everything. Not sure what to do next."
"Then take some time." Lip says. "It's not like you've got a choice to make immediately."
"True." Fiona then crosses her legs, letting out a sigh. "But enough about my shit. Don't let me hold you back from bitching about your own life problems."
Debbie lets out a groan as she quickly gets the opportunity to rant again. "Since I have to stay here longer, I tried to get any job, but I forgot how many assholes live here. Like yesterday, I needed to fix a pipe, but the guy kept staring at my ass."
Lip chuckles. "Sounds like every week here."
Debbie then frowns at her older brother, looking severely disappointed. "Really? You think I'm overreacting again?"
Looking a bit surprised and stunned, it takes a couple of seconds before Lip speaks up. "I was just making a joke. Y/N—"
"I was fucking serious! I felt like crap because of this pervert, and you just decided it's not that serious at all. Doesn't it bother you that your own little sister is getting creeped on by some old perverts?"
Lip can't help but wonder why his younger sister is like this. He doesn't respond, because he doesn't want to, and he feels like anything he says will be belittled.
Carl, noticing his oldest brother becoming quieter, speaks up. "Lip was only making a joke."
"And you're backing him up?" Debbie angrily asks Carl. At that point, everyone sitting around looks rather awkward. "And I thought you all had changed, but you didn't at all!" She then stands up and storms into the kitchen. "Franny, we're leaving!"
Once in the kitchen, the siblings look at each other.
"What the fuck is with her?" Fiona asks.
"How should I know?" Liam responds. "She's always this petty."
Lip lets out a tired sigh, pressing his hand against his temple. In the background, the back door can be heard opening, only to be slammed shut. "Am I going to have to apologize for just a joke?"
"We can figure that out later." Carl responds, shrugging. "Anyone else got shit going on without having a freakout about it?"
"I do." Liam speaks up, sounding a bit excited about the news. "I have this basketball team that I've been training. Tomorrow is a big game that will decide if we go to regionals."
Carl smiles at his little brother. "I never knew you were training kids."
"I never did." Liam says bluntly. "They're all adults."
Fiona looks impressed. "Sounds like you've got your shit together. Thinking about becoming coach full-time?"
"I haven't finished high school yet, but maybe. Love the money though." He then gets an idea. "Think all of you can come? It'll take just an hour or two."
