The household watches Y/N and Lip, who are making breakfast together. Awkwardly, they're not used to seeing Y/N and the oldest brother act so lovey-dovey, especially given their usual dynamic. For the Russian, there's a small smile on his face as he often glances back at his new fiancé. The Gallagher, on the other hand, smiles a bit wider and adds a touch of intimacy here and there.
"I wish they'd go back to hating each other..." Mickey mutters, clearly irritated.
As Debbie watches, something shiny catches her eye in the sunlight. "Holy shit... you're engaged!?"
The two at the counter glance back at the family, their attention from each other suddenly snapped. Everyone looks shocked, especially Ian, who had assumed, after speaking with Lip, that it was just a promise ring.
Y/N and Lip exchange a quick look before sharing the news. "We worked things out." Y/N starts. "After a year of sobriety, we're planning to get married."
Carl looks stunned. "Married!? Lip, I thought you were straight."
"You didn't know what happened?" Ian asks, amazed that Carl somehow missed any hints about Lip and Y/N's relationship.
"What happened then?"
"We're just a couple." Lip says casually, though Carl still looks bewildered. "I know it's a shock, but we love each other."
"I'm happy for you." Debbie says with a warm smile.
"Thanks." Lip returns the smile.
"Did Y/N make you gay?" Carl asks, genuinely confused.
Ian can't help but laugh at the absurdity of the question, shaking his head with a grin. "That's not how it works."
"Yes, it does." Y/N says casually, throwing a playful glance at his fiancé and winking. Lip rolls his eyes in response.
Carl sighs. "As long as you don't make me gay."

Later, after everyone had their breakfast and was preparing for their day, Lip is in the shower, minding his own business. As he does, he begins wondering whether going to marry Y/N is the right choice. Still, not like he can change much about it right now, at least he thinks so. Meanwhile, Ian enters the bathroom, intending to brush his teeth. As he realizes his older brother is behind the shower curtain, the redhead speaks up.
"So... you and Y/N are getting married."
"Yeah... only after I'm a year sober." Lip replies.
"...I thought you didn't want to marry him."
"I changed my mind." Lip says simply. "It's probably for the better. Y/N's such an ass, he'll probably keep me clean."
Ian looks doubtful. "Is it really smart to marry him? I mean... you don't even have your sexuality figured out. What if you're straight?"
"I don't know what I am." Lip responds, a bit more insistent now. "But I know I love him."
Ian turns around as he starts brushing his teeth. Leaning against the counter, he continues. "I get that, but it'd be smarter to just wait and think about it. Most of the time you've spent with him, you were drunk. We barely know anything about him—"
"I'm sorry for trying to make things right!" Lip snaps with some snark, cutting his younger brother off. Ian flinches slightly at the sudden outburst. "What else do I need to do? Fucking tell Y/N I may have used him for sex because I can't figure out what I want!?"
