Ch 86. Happy Anniversary

Life always takes its strange turns, whether for the best or worse. Even though earlier in his life he always considered it the worst, nowadays Lip doesn't. Although it's not the best, he settles on the great life he has now. He always reflects on his life whenever his anniversary arrives. August 13th, just a couple of more days away, and it's going to be six years of being married to Y/N.

It's a special day for the family, even considering it some kind of holiday, though it didn't start out that way. For the first anniversary, Y/N recreated the gourmet food they had during their wedding and honeymoon and threw a feast. The next year, Lip wanted to surprise his husband in return. Thus, he recreated the scene from the first time he told his husband he loved him, even if he was drunk and forgot about it. He even got some candles. On the third year, the Russian created a picnic not just for them, but also for the family, somewhere quiet but full of nature.

That's when Lip came up with the idea of one of them surprising the other for the anniversary: Y/N on odd years, while the other husband handled the even years. On the fourth year, the blonde scraped together photos and footage of them, as well as their family, into one video and turned the living room into a candlelit movie theatre. Last year, the tall man created a massive barbecue and made countless dishes for his family. And now it's back to Lip's turn.

The loving husband adores the tradition they made, hoping it will keep their relationship fresh and exciting. That's why he wants this year to be something major. He may not be a great cook like his partner, but the blonde wants to go all out. It's their final year in the house, and he wants to leave it with a blast. He also wants it to feel very personal. As he tries to think of what to do, he struggles to come up with a great idea, though he doesn't doubt he'll think of something.

As the couple wake up, they see the dark bedroom, realizing it's still early morning. However, they can hear their youngest son crying. As Lip stretches his body awake, Y/N gets out of bed and walks over to the cot to pick up the child.

"He didn't shit..." Y/N woozily mutters and looks back at his tired husband.

Lip sits up, sensing the other man's concern. During the past couple of days, Jesse has been sleeping less and less, which worries both fathers. Since they already raised six babies, they know for sure what to do with Jesse, and yet they still keep struggling.

"He eats less, and he looks skinny."

"You think he's in the same boat as Mak was?"

"Yeah." Y/N gently cradles Jesse in his arms. "He also doesn't babble or move much."

Lip sighs tiredly. "Shit." Y/N walks over to him. The blonde sitting at the edge of the bed. That's when the dad moves closer to him. "You think he's going to need those therapies too?"

"Let's just get him to the doctor before worrying." Y/N concludes. "If we're lucky, we're just overreacting, and he's just being annoying."

Lip hums and looks back at his son. "Mak turned out fine—well, mostly fine. I guess I don't need to worry too much about Jesse."

"You won't." Y/N then smirks. "You better worry about our anniversary."

Lip chuckles. "Probably, yeah."

With the doctor's appointment set for tomorrow, Lip continues trying to think of a great celebration. As he writes down a couple of ideas in the kitchen, he isn't sure if any of them stick. He wishes he had more time to think, especially since Kev and V are about to come over any minute, leaving him with barely two days to come up with an idea and actually pull it off.
