{Isabelle's POV}
I was awakened by the sound of heavy rain slamming against the roof. I looked out my window, and it was POURING rain. I guess it's a good thing that there were no turf wars scheduled today. Inklings don't do very well in rain. I ran downstairs to see if my mom was awake. Sure enough, she was. "Oh, this is bad..." She murmured. "What's bad, Mom?" I asked. "Oh. Good morning, Isabelle. I had to run some errands, but I got a business call... Could you go run them for me?" Sure, mom. Go out and run errands while it's pouring rain. "Alright." My mom handed me a slip of paper. "Can you go out and buy these things?" I nodded and grabbed my raincoat and umbrella. "I'll be back before you can say 'Splattershot'!"{Nathan's POV}
I stared out the window. It was raining cats and dogs out there. I half expected Judd to fall from the sky along with a few more cats. I was still pretty burned out from yesterday, and I just wanted to go back to sleep. Then I actually saw someone running around in the rain with a yellow umbrella, red raincoat, and orange tentacles with a small tail in the back. "Isabelle? What's she doing out in the rain?" I whispered to myself. I opened the window and hollered, "Heeey! Isabelle! Is that you?" Isabelle looked over at me and waved. "Morning, Nathan! Great weather, huh?" She said. "Beautiful," I replied. "What are you doing out in the rain?" Isabelle twirled her umbrella and answered, "Just running some errands. My mom sent me 'cos she's real busy." What a pain, I thought. "Can I tag along? I got nothing better to do, and two heads are better than one..." Isabelle sighed. "Fine. You can come with me." I replied, "Thanks, Isabelle! I'll be right out!" I shut the window and grabbed my dad's old umbrella. He won't care if I borrow it, I hope.
"Alright, where to first?" I asked Isabelle as we walked along the sidewalk. "The grocery store, I guess. We've run fresh out of food. Then, I have to stop by the post office to see if I got any mail..." Who uses snail mail these days? E-mail is where it's at.{Isabelle's POV}
"That was a lot of grocery shopping," Nathan whined. "Who need six bags of shredded cheese?" I shrugged. "My mom, I guess." As we entered the post office, I ran up to the counter like a bullet. "Is there any mail for Isabelle Blackfisk?" The woman at the counter nodded and handed me a letter. "Who's it from?" Nathan asked. "My dad," I replied as we walked out. I stopped and opened the letter. As I read it, my eyes were overflowing with tears. I broke into a fit of laughter. I even hugged Nathan. "OHMIGOSH, NATHAN! YOU ARE NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS!!!" Nathan replied, "What? What is it!?" I hugged him again. "MY DAD IS COMING INTO TOWN! I CAN FINALLY SEE MY DAD AGAIN!" Nathan's eyes widened. I haven't seen my dad in about seven years. He must have known how happy I was, because we just started yelling and hugging and dancing.
"Hey, Mom! I'm home!" I said as I opened the front door. My mom was sitting on the couch, fiddling around on her laptop. "Hey, honey. You look happy. What happened?" I handed the letter to my mom. My mom took one look at it and started to cry. "Jack... I can't wait." I slipped off my raincoat and headed upstairs to let mom read the letter. I sat on my bed and pulled out my phone. I called up Ellie, Max, and Nathan for a group face chat. "Good evening!" Ellie cheerfully said. "Why'd you call us?" Max asked. Nathan replied, "I guess that Isabelle has good news." I nodded and said, "Well, I have good news and bad news. Good news first?" The three nodded in unison. "Okay. MY DAD IS COMING BACK TO INKOPOLIS!!!" Ellie started to jump around, Nathan smiled, and Max just looked astounded. "What's the bad news?" He asked. The smile on my face faded. Nathan knew what I was going to tell them. I had to sooner or later. "Well, you see... Me and Nathan were attacked by an octarian. An Octoling, to be exact." Ellie gasped. "Oh my gosh! Were you ok?!" Nathan smiled awkwardly. "We're fine, Ellie. And look at this!" Nathan held up the monitor that the Octoling had dropped. Max's eyes widened. "Cooool. What is it?" Nathan replied, "It's a monitor of some sort. It's broken, but there is something we know about it. Look here." Nathan pointed to the name on the back. "Orlaith?" Ellie questioned. "Is that the name of the Octoling who attacked you?" I nodded. "She may attack us again, to get this back." Max grinned. "If that's the case, Me and Ellie will protect you guys!" Ellie nodded. Then her eyes snapped open. "Oh! I just remembered! Isabelle, there's a Splatfest in two days!" My eyes widened. I loved Splatfests and all the festivities that came with them. All of a sudden, my mom called me downstairs. "Sorry guys, I gotta go. See you at the splatfest!" I hung up and ran downstairs. Someone was standing in the front doorway. I couldn't believe who it was.
