{Isabelle's POV}
"Isabelle! Hey, Izzy! Wake up already! Heeeeeey!"
I buried my head in my pillow. It was WAY too early to go through this. "Five more minutes, please..."
"C'mon, Isabelle! It's already 9:30! Get up!"
I immediately sat up. "9:30?! WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP EARLIER?!" I got up and hurried to get ready. I slept in way late today! I probably missed a bunch of battles! I shook off that feeling and got my usual blue t-shirt and pink sneakers on. As I ran downstairs, I grabbed a purple and blue hairband and pulled the four short tentacles in back into a tail. I slammed the door open to see Nathan, my best friend, smiling. "That's a new record. Two minutes and thirty-three seconds." I playfully shoved him. "Shut up, Nathan. Have you competed in any turf wars yet?" Nathan shook his head. We were all waiting for you." I rolled my eyes. "I'd buy that for a dollar," I replied.
As we walked over by Booyah Base, I saw two other Inklings waving at us. I squinted a little so I could see them better. It was Ellie and Max, my two other friends. "So you finally woke up, sleeping beauty!" Max shouted. Ellie shot him a look and stomped on his foot. "Hey, Isabelle! Good morning!" I smiled and replied, "Good morning. Sorry for sleeping in on you. Yesterday was insane." Nathan said, "Yeah! Eight battles in one evening, and we won all of them!" Ellie giggled and elbowed Max right in the side. "Insanity, right?" Max was still frowning from his crushed foot, but managed to laugh it off. "Since we're all here now, we can get the battles going for today!" Everyone shouted, "YEEEAAH!" I suddenly remembered something at the last second. "Oh, crud. I forgot my weapon at home!" Nathan rolled his eyes. "Of course you did. Run and get it! Hurry it up, slowpoke!" I stick my tongue out at him. "I'll be back before you can say 'Splattershot'!"
I ran back home and saw my ink shooter laying on the kitchen table. I ran over and grabbed it, and my mom stopped me before I left. "Isabelle, I need to tell you something." I turned around. "What is it, Mom?" My mom said, "I have to go out tonight for work. You'll be home alone until about midnight. Is that ok?" I replied, "Of course! No big deal at all! See ya later, Mom!" I ran out the door as my mom waved goodbye.
{Nathan's POV}
"I wonder where she is. She's taking forever." I said, sort of thinking out loud. Ellie replied, "Maybe something happened that's slowing her down." Max smirked. "I bet she just ran away from us-" He was cut off when Ellie stomped on his foot again. "Shut up, Max." As I looked all over, I saw an orange squid running towards us, holding a Splattershot in her hands. "Heeeey! Guuuuys!" Isabelle yelled. I yelled back, "What took you so long?" Isabelle shrugged. "My mom had to tell me something," She said. I smiled and replied, "But what matters now is getting ready for battle!" I said as I picked up my 0.52 gal from off the ground. Ellie smiled and grabbed her Splatterscope. Max swung his Splat Roller around menacingly. "PEOPLE WILL FALL PREY TO THE STEAMROLLER! MWAHAHAHA-" Before he could finish, we had all left for Inkopolis Tower. Max ran over to us. "Hey! Wait for me, guys!"
