{Isabelle's POV}
It was my dad, standing in the doorway. "D-dad?" I said. My dad smiled. "It's been so long, Isabelle." I ran over to him and gave him a big hug. "DAD!!!! I've missed you so much!" My dad laughed. "I've missed you too, Isabelle. How's your Splattershot holding up?" I ran over and picked up my Splattershot to show him. "It's doing great!" My dad started laughing again. "I wouldn't expect less than something YOU made, Dad!" I said. That's right, my Dad made my weapon. That's why it's the only weapon I use. It's special to me. "Well," My mom said. "How about we stop by the café tomorrow to get some sweets to celebrate your father's return?" We both nodded furiously. We love sweets. Runs in the family, I guess.
"And then, I got the winning splat right at the last second!" I said with my mouth full of cake. During the last half hour, I was telling my parents all about my turf war experiences. "I was so happy, I threw my gun in the air! Don't worry, I went back and got it." I, of course, left out the part involving Orlaith. My dad grinned. "Sounds like fun. How are your friends doing?" He asked. "Oh, my friends? They're doing just fine! I could introduce you while you're here if you'd like!" My mom laughed. "Oh, have you heard, Isabelle? There's going to be a Splatfest soon. Roller coasters versus water slides, I believe?" I nodded. "Ellie told me last night! We're all on Team Roller Coaster! Dad, are you gonna come?" My dad replied, "I'll only be able to stay for the fireworks. But I'll be there." Now, I'm even more hyped for this Splatfest!{Orlaith's POV}
I still couldn't believe I lost my tracker's monitor. I've been combing the skate park for the last hour or so, and I still can't find it! "Ugh," I moaned. As I was pouting to myself, I saw a group of three inklings walk by. One of them, a boy Inkling with dark blue tentacles, had something in his pocket. I couldn't believe what it was. It was my tracker's monitor! "I have to get it back somehow," I whispered to myself. I looked up at a billboard. It said, 'Splatfest tomorrow night! Roller Coaster versus Water Slide!' Perfect! I could use the festivities as a distraction! As I ran back to the manhole, I saw a family of three inklings sitting by a café. I wish my family had cared about me that much... They abandoned me when I was little. No matter. I shook off the depressing thought and kept running.
I had to get my monitor back.
