{Isabelle's POV}
"Man, Tower Control was tough yesterday. I bet it'll be even worse today..." I sighed. Nathan slapped me on the back and grinned. "But it was worth it! We just barely won!" In the distance, I heard a loud feminine voice yell, "LOOK OUT! GET OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE I MOW YOU DOWN! WAAAATCH OOOUUUT-" She was cut off when she ran into me with the force of half a million pro wrestlers. That were riding bulls."Ow..." I winced and stood up. "HOLY CRUD! Are you alright?" The girl stood up, dusted off her skirt, and smiled at me. For some reason, she looked vaguely familiar. In a cheery voice, she replied "No prob, Bob! I'm fine! How 'bout you?" I answered, "I'm fine, and Wh- wait a sec... Do I know you?" The girl nodded. "I think I ran into you a couple days ago! ...Quite literally, in fact..." Come to think of it... This was definitely the same girl. Same face, same outfit, same tentacles... "I'm really sorry for bumping into you..." I apologized. She replied, "Oh, no! I'm sorry for bowling you down! Um, which way is the train station?" I pointed to the train station and answered, "It's just that way." She smiled and cheerfully replied, "Thank you! And sorry for bowling you down twice now..." She ran towards the train station. Nathan asked me, "Do you know her?" I replied, "A bit."
{?????'s POV}
I sat down in my usual seat on the train- close to the door, but not too close, with the window behind me. He should be on at the next stop, I thought to myself. As soon as I sat down, three female Inklings approached my seat. They were all wearing the usual female school uniform, and their tentacles were lavender. The girl in the middle of the group, the leader, walked up to me with an annoyed look on her face. "There you are. Aren't you going to sit with your team?" I shook my head. "I can't, Hayley. I'm waiting for someone, you see..." She groaned. "Ugh! Come sit with us already and obey your team captain!" I just ignored her. She walked away in disgust. The train stopped, and a familiar boy got on and sat next to me. He was wearing the male school uniform, with a white anchor shirt beneath. He smiled and said, "Good morning, Kasai." I replied, "Hey, Felix. How's it going?" He sighed. "Not very well. I really don't want to go to school today." He looked over my shoulder and saw Hayley giving me the evil eye. "Wanted you to sit with them again, huh?" I shrugged my shoulders and answered, "They'll never stop."Felix is my best friend. He's always there for me when things get rough, which is nice. We've been friends for as long as I can remember, which makes me wonder why I didn't join a battle team with him instead of Hayley. Oh, that's right. My parents forced me to join Hayley's pro team. Hayley's team is extremely powerful, and Hayley's dad is my dad's boss. So, I'm forced to be on Hayley's team. And poor Felix doesn't even have a team... Yet. Someday, I'll get Felix a team, and...
"...Kasai? EARTH TO KASAI!" I snap back into reality and see Felix standing by the exit. "This is our stop! Hurry it up, slowpoke!" I roll my eyes. "Coming, sir."
I stand outside the fancy doors of Inkopolis Prep, my high school. It's a very rich school, so I was lucky to get in. Felix and I are both on our first year of high school. I walked up to my locker and threw my backpack in. "I really hate Mondays..." I said to myself. And what better way to start off a bad Monday morning than with my least favorite class?
"You are the worst! Just get out of my sight!"
"Hey, come on! I try to do my best!"
"Oh, you say you're trying? I thought you were just relying on us to win all the time!"
"Seriously? Why would I do that?"
"UGH! LIAR! NOBODY WANTS YOU HERE! GET OUT OF MY LIFE, AND GET OFF MY TEAM!""I'M NOT A LIAR!" I yelled as I woke up. Dozens of Inklings shot me weird looks. ...I fell asleep in class, didn't I? I thought. The teacher angrily said, "Miss Brasa, the answer I was looking for was √16, not 'I'm not a liar.'" I heard laughter on the other side of the classroom. Hayley and her little posse were laughing their guts out. Another addition to my perfect day, I sarcastically thought.
I groaned as I threw my books back into my locker. Today was awful. First, the nightmare during math class. And at lunch, Hayley "accidentally" dumped spaghetti all over me. And just a while ago, I failed an assignment. At least it couldn't get any worse, I thought.
"Hey, Kasai! Get over here."
Me and my big mouth...
I walked over to the voice. It had come from a very irritated Hayley. She crossed her arms and groaned. "You're a pretty bad team member. I just now noticed that." I rolled my eyes. "Seriously? My tentacles still smell like marinara because of you." She pushed me away. "I meant in terms of battle. Your weapon and battle style... It's kinda babyish. That's why our team lost the turf war practice in gym." Is she being serious right now? She thinks my Jet Squelcher is for BABIES? Does she know how many battles that wonderful weapon won me? "I don't think it's babyish," I replied.
"You are the worst! Just get out of my sight!" Hayley snaps back. "Hey, come on! I try to do my best!" I yell. "Oh, you say you're trying? I thought you were just relying on us to win all the time!" She angrily replied. She can't be serious. She is the most unreliable teammate ever. "Seriously? Why would I do that?" I say. Hayley's eyes burn with anger. "UGH! LIAR! NOBODY WANTS YOU HERE! GET OUT OF MY LIFE, AND GET OFF MY TEAM!" She screams as she pushes me into the lockers. "THAT'S ENOUGH!" I hear someone yell.{Felix's POV}
I couldn't believe what I was seeing at first. Hayley was bullying Kasai, and then she pushes her? What a jerk! "You say one more bad thing about Kasai, and I'll knock you into tomorrow!" I threaten. Hayley rolls her eyes. "Whatever. I'm not scared of a little squid-baby like you." She walked away, and I helped Kasai stand up. "Are you ok?" I ask. She happily replied, "I'm alright! Thanks for saving my skin." She notices my basketball uniform and asks, "You have practice today?" I answer, "Yeah. You want to come watch? I mean, you don't have to if you don't-" Kasai smiled. "I'd love to! Sounds fun!" As we're walking outside to the basketball court, I can't help but smile at how cute she was being earlier.
To be honest, I've had the hugest crush on Kasai. Ever since we were little squids, I really liked her. I tried to tell her how I felt back in summer, but this is how it went...
"Kasai?"
"Yeah?"
"I have something to tell you. I really, really like you."
"Me too! You're my best friend!"
That was where I learned how dense she was... But I'll try again! Maybe she'll understand me!{????'s POV}
I'd been searching for hours. Turns out this isn't the place. As I was searching, I heard footsteps on the clean iron stairwell. Crud! Someone's here! I ducked behind a wall and saw an Inkling. She wasn't the one I was looking for. For starters, she had lavender tentacles and wore a school uniform. She walked to the edge of the rooftop and stood next to the railing. From what I heard, the one I'm looking for doesn't go to a school that has uniforms. Through the thin walls, I could hear the Inkling talking to herself."She is such a loser. Her battle style is for babies, her weapon is for babies, her clothes are ugly, her face is ugly, her friend is stupid, and everything about her is... Just... UUUUGGGGHHH! I hate everything about her! I would rather die than be on a team with her!"
Would she? Heh heh...
I crept up behind the girl and whispered, "Would you really rather die than be on a team with that girl?" She replied, "...Yes...?" Before she could turn around and see me, I pushed her over the edge, causing her to fall four stories to her death.
