{Isabelle's POV}

I pulled myself out of the kettle and said, "That one wasn't as dusty as the others. Weird." Nathan hopped out and replied, "I agree. Keep on your toes." I stared at the center of the room. A colossal, circular machine rested on the floor. The Zapfish was floating above. "There it is!" I exclaimed. Before I could run and get it, an enormous tentacle popped out of the center of the machine, pulling it in.

The machine began to gyrate rapidly, and it sped right towards us. "GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Nathan shouted while bolting out of the machine's way. I expected the machine to follow after us, but it just kept rolling around aimlessly. "...What is it doing?" I asked.

I glanced over at Nathan, who looked just as confused as I was. "I honestly have no clue," he replied.

The machine snapped out of its confusion and began to speed towards us again. "AAIIIIIYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Nathan screamed while shooting ink everywhere. "GOAWAYLEAVEMEALONEIMTOOYOUNGTODIEEEEE!" The machine's mad dash was halted as it began to sink into the ink.

"Nathan! I know how to beat it! Whenever it comes rushing towards us, cover the floor in as much ink as possible!"

A large octopus tentacle popped out of the machine, and we abruptly destroyed it. "We did it!" I cheered. Nathan replied, "That fight felt way too short. Something isn't right here-" he was cut off when the machine rammed into him and knocked him into the pool of magenta ink surrounding the room.

I outstretched my hand towards Nathan in an attempt to pull him out, but as I was doing so ,the floor began to slowly rotate. "Nathan! Take my hand!" He weakly reached towards my hand, and I successfully hauled him out. "Thanks, Isabelle..." He replied.

Nathan glanced at the floor, and the machine (which had begun to spin around aimlessly again). "Since different sections of the floor are moving, we have to try and cover as much ground as possible," he suggested. "Good idea!" I responded. "We should split up to cover more ground."

We managed to cover as much ground as possible, and it was just enough to sink the machine. Nathan stood on top of the disabled machine and posed heroically. "We defeated it!" He cheered. I stared at the ground, and noticed that some of the floor panels were being replaced with thick glass. "Uh... Nathan?" I said.

"We are the champioooons, my frieeeend....." He sang.

"Nathan?" I repeated.

"What is it, Isabelle?" He responded.

"We haven't won yet."

Nathan's smile faded as he stared down at the machine, which was beginning to move again. "...crud."

The machine popped out of the ink, with Nathan still holding on. "WHOA!" The machine began to roll around at a breakneck speed, dragging Nathan along with it. "HEELP MEEEEEE!" He cried.

"There's less ground to cover because of the glass!" I replied. "Trying to sink it would require perfect timing, which we can't afford right now!"
"I DON'T CARE! JUST DO SOMEETHIIIING!" Nathan screamed while grabbing hold of the machine again and abruptly leaning towards the right. Surprisingly, the machine moved to the right as well. This gave me an idea that, if pulled off successfully, could end this fight once and for all.

"Nathan!" I shouted. "Listen to me! I'll try to cover as much ground as possible, and you can steer the machine into it!"

I immediately ran off to cover as much ground as I could with ink. Afterwards, I signaled Nathan to come closer. If I got the timing just right, the inked panels would line up and sink the machine.

It was a success. The machine sunk deep into the ink, and I destroyed the tentacle that popped out. The machine spit Nathan out before exploding. Nathan lay on the ground, clutching the Zapfish, completely silent. "You alright?" I asked. Nathan squeamishly replied, "...world...spinning..." As I was helping him up, I noticed a small computer chip on the ground. What's this? I thought. I better take it back to Ellie. She's the computer master around here.

"You've gotta be KIDDING me! The Octowhirl was just disabled? What happened to the Amplification Chip?"

"I-it must have been defective, sir!"

"...you're worthless. I might as well replace you!"

"No, sir! Anything but that! What if we try amplifying the Octomaw?"

"...the Octomaw is powerful enough. We don't want it to fail like the Octowhirl."

"It's always worth a shot!"

"Just do it. I don't care anymore."

"Right away, sir!"

--------------------

"Good job, squiddos!" Cap'n said. "Max and Ellie will take on the next one tomorrow. It's powerful, so be careful and get plenty of rest!" Ellie nodded. "Yes, sir."

Later that evening, I decided to give that computer chip I found to Ellie to see if she knew what it was. "I found it on the floor after the machine exploded," I said while handing the chip to Ellie. "Do you know what it is?" She studies it closely and replied, "It's an amplification chip. They're commonly used in weapon factories to increase machine activity. If one was used in an Octoweapon, its power could increase tenfold. But by the looks of it, the amplification failed."

"Octarians must suck at programming," Max joked. "But enough nerd talk. The next Octoweapon is super powerful, and after we defeat it we have to take down the mastermind behind this." Ellie smiled. "Max is right. We need to rest so that we're ready for battle tomorrow." Nathan sleepily nodded, and I replied with "Alright." Today was a long day, and all I wanted to do was rest.

I hope this is over soon.
