{Felix's POV}

I yawned and opened the window to let some cool air in. Today was... Probably the most uneventful day of my entire life. It's the same old song and dance. Wake up, eat, read a book or something, Kasai visits, we hang out, eat again, and done. My deep green eyes strayed over to my desk, with a single homework paper still on it. I had no clue when classes would start back up again, so I guess I had to do it.

So I went over and picked it up... Completely forgetting about my open window.

A huge gust of wind came by, blowing the paper out of my hands and out the window. "You've got to be squiddin' me..." I said to myself. I ran outside to pick it up, and saw a girl walking towards me. She was wearing a squid-stitch cap, a school uniform, and black boots. "Uh... Hi?" I mumbled.

She didn't reply at all. She answered by throwing a Disruptor at me and dragging my numb body away.

I groggily opened my eyes and tried to sit up. I was in a dark place, but I could barely make out a figure on the other side of the room. The figure walked over to me, revealing that she was the girl who threw the Disruptor at me. There was a name tag on her shirt, reading 'Natalie'.

"Where am I? Who are you?" I asked. Natalie pulled out a strange silver ink gun loaded with magenta ink and pointed it at my chest. "I saw you talking to a certain orange brat yesterday. Tell me where she is, and I'll let you live..." She coldly replied. "You mean Isabelle? Kasai introduced me to her yesterday. I don't know where she is right now." Natalie rolled her eyes and pushed the gun against my chest, her finger resting on the trigger. "Tell me or I'll kill you." Man, I wish I had my Dynamo Roller with me right now so I could splat her face.

"I'm telling you, I have no clue. Now please, let me go..." I replied in mild terror. Natalie rolled her eyes and ripped off her hat. Her hair was a dark silver, with seaweed dancing around her head. "Fine. You leave me no choice." She prepared to pull the trigger, and I awaited my punishment.

Everything after that was a blur in my memory. I sort of remember someone wearing weird bioluminescent clothing chasing Natalie away, and that person carrying my still-numb body back home. I eventually regained mobility around midnight, but I still couldn't sleep. There were too many thoughts racing through my head.

And no, I never did finish that one sheet of homework.

"BWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!" Kasai yelled, spitting out her tea. I wiped the tea off of my face and replied, "Yeah. Someone threatened to kill me last night."

"WHO?! DID YOU SEE WHO IT WAS?!" She screamed. "Calm down, Kasai. There's no need to yell..." She loudly replied, "THERE IS WHEN YOU ALMOST GOT MURDERED!!!!!" I sighed. "Alright, I'll tell you the whole story. I have to warn you, though..."

{Jacki's POV}

There aren't any turf wars today, so I have to spend most of today in the restaurant. May groggily walked over to me and said, "It's freezing in here. Aren't you cold, Big Sis?" I shook my head. But it does get pretty chilly in here sometimes. May handed me my favorite camouflage hoodie and said, "Take this, just in case..." I grab it and put it on, and then tie my apron around my waist. "Time for torture- I mean, work..." I say to myself.

"Hello!" A familiar, chipper voice said as the door opened. It was my regular, and one of her friends. "Oh, hey! Welcome!" I said, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible. "Two plates of curry, please..." Said her friend.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" I shouted. The boy (who said his name was Felix) nodded. "Yeah... Someone tried to kill me. I told Kasai here, and she completely flipped out." Kasai elbowed him in the stomach and replied, "Be quiet, Felix! At least you were saved! I couldn't bear to see you if you were attacked! Heck, what if someone else got attacked by the same person?!"

Ding!

The front door of the restaurant was slowly opened. A male inkling, bruised and cut all over and almost completely coated in magenta ink stood in the doorway. He wiped some of the ink off of his Paintball Mask. I recognized him almost immediately- It was Mark, the boy from yesterday. He stumbled over to the front desk. He said, through raspy breaths,

"Run..."

And then he collapsed.

{Mark's POV}

"Uuuugggh..." I moaned as I lifted my head. I was laying on the ground in some weird room that I'd never seen anywhere. My body was swathed in bandages, and Paintball Mask was on the floor next to me, with hardened magenta ink still on it. Oh, right... That... Thing happened, and then I headed over to the restaurant and just fell over... I thought. I reached over to pick up my Paintball Mask and put it on. I was stopped from doing so when someone delivered a hard, abrupt slap to my hand.

"Don't touch that! It's still covered in that weird magenta ink!" Yelled a loud, feminine voice. I looked over to my right and saw the girl from yesterday- I think her name was Jacki- angrily staring at me. "Uh... I sort of need it..."

"No, you sort of don't need it! That magenta ink is harmful!" She shouted. I attempted to grab my mask again, but this time she slapped my face instead of my hand. "OW! Stop that!"

Jacki rolled her eyes. "Why do you need that mask so much? Can't you see that it's dangerous?!" I sighed. I had to tell her the truth. "I can't see that it's dangerous." She replied, "Why?!"

"To be honest, I can't see anything at all right now."

Jacki's eyes widened. "What do you mean?" I sat up straight and told her everything.

"Here's the deal. I can't see the world like everyone else. All I see is white. My world is completely blank. This disability kept me from participating in Ink Battles for a long time. After a while, I got that Paintball Mask. It actually helps me see a little better, but that's it. Without my mask, the world is nothing."

I could faintly see Jacki's frowning face. She picked up my mask and cleaned it off. She handed me the mask, and I slipped it over my face. After I put it on, I could see Jacki's face a bit more clearly. Upon closer inspection, she was crying. "I'm so sorry. I had no idea."

I stood up and headed towards the exit. "Thanks, Jacki. And please promise that you won't tell anyone." Jacki grinned and replied, "No problem. And if anyone finds out, I'll throw 'em in the deep fryer!" I smiled and left the restaurant. It felt like a huge weight had just been lifted off of my chest. I knew that my secret would be safe with Jacki.
