{Felix's POV}
It's been a day since the huge affair at Octo Valley. Isabelle and her crew were all shocked over Nami's death. But, quoth the Isabelle- "She'll never hurt anyone again." I guess that's a good thing, but deaths always make me feel weirdly uneasy.
Kasai's still pretty depressed over having killed Nami, and losing her favorite jersey. (She told me about a year ago that she got it from her late father.)
The other bad thing to come out of this fiasco? Our school opened up again. Well, Sort of. It's only open for about a week or so because of the upcoming fall break. And school opened back up just in time for our fall dance...
Whenever I see Kasai, she's always weirdly bummed out. Whenever I try to talk to her, she just ignores me.
Which is terribly inconvenient, since I really need to talk to her.
I saw her heading up to the rooftop a while ago. This was my one chance to talk to her.
I remembered exactly what I had to do.
"WHAT?! You're asking her out, Felix?!"
"Eh- Sort of... I'm asking her to the fall dance."
"You said that she's too bummed to talk to you? I know how to get her to talk to you."
"How do I do that, Nathan?"
"Give her a gift. That'll cheer her up."
"Alright, thank you."
I saw Kasai, staring out over the horizon. I hesitantly walked over to her.
"Uh... Hello? Kasai?" I squeaked. She turned her head and smiled. "Hi, Felix."
"Look, I know you're still upset about what happened back in Octo Valley. I hate having to see you like this..." I shoved the box into her arms. "I made this for you."
Kasai opened the box and pulled out an orange t-shirt. "It's really ugly... And the stats are pretty bad-" Kasai threw her arms around me and replied, "I love it! Thank you so much!"
This is your chance, Felix. Ask her now. Don't let your dreams be dreams. Just... DO IT!
"So, uh, Kasai? I was wondering... Since the Fall dance is tomorrow... Maybe we can go together?" I stuttered. Kasai smiled and replied, "I was just about to ask the same question!" Is she serious?!
"Since you're my best friend!"
Should've seen that coming from a mile away.
"Hey! Maybe Mark and Jacki can come too! The more, the merrier! C'mon, let's go ask them!" She shouted while grabbing me by the wrist and dragging me along.
"WAIT! I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF MARK GOES TO THIS SCHOOL!"
{Kasai's POV}
"Kasai, hurry up! Your friends will be here at any time!" My mother shouted from the kitchen. I replied, "I'm almost ready! Don't worry!" I heard a knock on the front door as I slipped on my Pilot Goggles. I ran over and opened the door. Felix, Jacki, and Mark were all standing outside. "Hey guys!" I said.
"Hey, Kasai. Ready to go?" Felix asked. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be!" I cheerfully replied.
The dance was AWESOME. Lots of music, dancing (of course), and crazy rave-party lights. I don't think I've had this much fun in ages! For some reason, Mark and Jacki were always chilling by the snacks and chatting instead of dancing.
"Hey, guys! What are you chatting about?" I asked Jacki. She replied, "Mark's giving me some weapon tips. I'm thinking about joining a team." Mark said, "What about you and Felix? Are you in teams?" I shook my head. "Felix doesn't have a team, and my team disbanded after the captain, Hayley, died." Mark's eyes lit up. "INCREDIBLE IDEA! What if all four of us..."
"Make our own team?"
"WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT SOONER?!" I shouted. "Let's do it! What'll our team name be?" Jacki asked. I thought for a little while and responded, "Team Sky?" Jacki grinned. "Love it! Team Sky all the way!" Our little team celebration was halted when the music was abruptly cut off.
"Alright, everybody! Grab a partner and head to the dance floor, 'cause it's time for couples dance!" The DJ shouted. The gym filled up with the sound of a sweet, slow melody.
"Ah, jeez..." Felix sighed. "It's a slow dance..." I looked around the gym. Everyone was already paired up (including Mark and Jacki, heh heh). I guess I had no choice. I walked over to Felix and grabbed his hand.
The rest of the night was kind of a blur. All I remember is the slow dance... And how Felix was blushing and stuttering the entire time. But, all good things must eventually come to end.
{Felix's POV}
I don't wanna leeaaave!" Kasai whined. I replied, "It was really nice. We deserve some fun, after what's happened in the past few days..." She nodded in agreement.
The rest of the walk was silent, until we reached my house. "So... Uh, see you later?" I stammered. Kasai grabbed my wrist and said, "Felix, there's something I need to tell you." I replied, "What is it?"
She was blushing like crazy. "I... Uh... like you." I answered, "I like you too. You're my best friend! Eh... Eheheh..." Kasai responded, "No, I mean... I REALLY like you. More than that."
"What do you mean?" I said in confusion. Kasai smiled and softly replied, "I guess I have to do everything myself..." She drew closer to me...
And she kissed me.
On the lips.
Afterwards, she cheerfully said, "See you tomorrow, Felix!" And she ran off.
I stood there, in my driveway, speechless and blushing like crazy. Did that really just happen? I pinched myself just to make sure. I definitely wasn't dreaming. That was legitimately my first kiss.
Caleb opened the front door and shouted, "Hey, Felix! How was the dance?" I didn't reply. I was still in complete shock. "...Is he okay?" Brenda asked. Caleb stared at me and responded, "I know exactly what happened to him. Just had his first kiss."
"He speaks the truth... Eheheh..." I squeaked. Maybe the kiss was just a one-time thing? I'll never truly know how Kasai feels about me.
And I'm perfectly okay with it.
