{Orlaith's POV}
"Whaaat? Why not?" I whined. Nathan replied, "You can't use an Octarian weapon here. People will think you're attempting to attack them. You'll have to buy a new weapon here." I sighed and walked into the weapons shop with the group. Inside was a horseshoe crab, organizing shelves lined with different weapons. He turned around to greet us. "Welcome! Ah, hello, Nathan! And your team's here too! How are you-AAAAAAUGH! IS THAT AN OCTARIAN?!" Nathan replied, "Calm down, Sheldon. She's a friend, not a foe. Got any good weapons for her?" Sheldon answered, "As a matter of fact, I just got some new ones in!" On a shelf on the back wall were three interesting weapons. One of them was a brush with an octopus design, a bucket, and a splatling gun. Sheldon asked, "Would you like to try those three, miss?" I nodded furiously. "Alright. Testing area is out back."First up was the Octobrush. "So I'm supposed to use it like this?" I asked. I rammed into a squid balloon multiple times attempting to steamroll it before it popped. Max shook his head and replied, "You just kinda go along and get up close to the enemies to splat them." I shrieked, "What a complex mechanic! How am I supposed to cover more turf?!" Max shook his head. "This one's obviously not for you."
Next was the Slosher... Which was a bucket, apparently? "You just take it and fling the ink like this!" Isabelle said, demonstrating. She popped a squid balloon with relative ease, and covered quite a bit of ground. I gave it a try afterwards. "Hiyaaah!" The ink in the bucket only traveled about a foot in front of me. "Whaaat?" I whined. Isabelle answered, "You gotta fling it harder than that!" I replied, "This weapon requires high arm strength? Unfair!" Isabelle asked, "By the way... What happened to that Forge Splattershot Pro of yours?" I replied, "That was on loan from DJ Octavio. It was temporary. And after I quit being an agent, Nami got it for use on missions in Inkopolis." Isabelle replied, "Unfair."
Finally, there was the Heavy Splatling. Nathan and Ellie teamed up to help me out here. "You just hold the trigger and let it charge, OK? Careful, it's kinda heavy," Ellie instructed. I lifted it up with relative ease and held the trigger. "Like this?" I asked. Ellie nodded. Nathan came over and said, "Once it's fully charged, release the trigger and watch 'er go!" I released the trigger, shooting rapid fire ink bullets EVERYWHERE. I almost popped every squid balloon. Ellie and Nathan nodded. "This one's the one."
"So you can lift up a nearly 10-15 pound gun with ease, and can only fling a bucket of ink one foot in front of you?" Isabelle questioned as we left the weapon shop. I nodded and replied, "Apparently. My arms are weird." Ellie looked up at tentacles and asked, "Orlaith, can you change your tentacle color? The red seems a little too... Octarian-ish." I answered, "I think so." I closed my eyes and thought of a color. Before I knew it, my usually red tentacles were a violet-blue, resembling a bluebell flower. "Great!" Isabelle said. "Now no one will even consider you to be hostile!" I looked at the ground. This color reminded me of... Him... So I chose it. "Guys..." I said softly. "Thank you for helping me out. I really appreciate it..." Max grinned. "No problemo!" Nathan followed up with, "We're here for you. We're your friends. That's what we're for." I smiled.
These four were some of my first friends.
