Permanent Scars

{Isabelle's POV}

I opened my eyes. I was in front of some strange house I had never seen before. The exterior was a little shabby, but it looked rather nice on the inside. I saw someone in one of the rooms. She was curled up in the corner, crying. Upon closer inspection...

It was Kasai.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Felix running towards the house. Why in the world would he have come here?

{Felix's POV}

During the whole sprint here, It felt like someone was watching me. I swear, I even saw the silhouette of a girl behind me while I ran here. Eh, I'm probably just tired. I just have to prove Caleb wrong, and then I can go home. Easy enough.

{Kasai's POV}

I kept cowering in the corner, waiting for it all to be over. For Him to leave me and mom alone. I could still hear his shouting.

"WHERE IS SHE?! JUST TELL ME!"

I looked over to my left. I had forgotten to lock my window. Maybe, just maybe, if I was quiet enough, I could escape through the window.

I unhinged the screen and stepped out. I sneaked out to the front door so I could make a run for it...

"OOOOOOOMPH!"

I landed on the ground. I had collided with... Felix?

"FELIX! What are you doing here?! We need to run! If we climb over that wall, we can escape!" I whisper-yelled!

"I was just-" He said. "Shush! He could hear us!" I mumbled.

I heard the front door open and I knew it was going to be over for me soon.

He angrily stepped out and saw me. "THERE YOU ARE, YOU LITTLE BRAT..." He moved closer to me. "You think you can just run away from your DAD like this?!"

I shouted, "You are NOT my dad! My real dad is dead! You're a sorry excuse for a stepdad! You abuse both me and Mom, you're greedy, and you have no idea as to what love is! You're a cruel, heartless monster!"

{Felix's POV}

I couldn't believe it.

This horrible person Kasai talked about so much was her stepfather?

Her stepfather gritted his teeth and clenched his wrists. "What did you just say?" He growled.

Kasai repeated, "I SAID YOU'RE A CRUEL AND HEARTLESS MONSTER!"

That was obviously the last straw for him. He rushed towards Kasai, and I knew exactly what he was about to do.

So I got up and and stood in front of Kasai, waiting for what was about to come.

{Isabelle's POV}

I couldn't believe what I had just seen.

Felix took the hit for Kasai.

He was sent flying into the wall behind him. He laid against the wall, limp, cut, and bruised. Kasai's eyes welled up with tears. "FELIX!!!"

Kasai ran towards Felix. "FELIX! Are you OK?! Speak to me, please!" Felix didn't respond. He was hardly breathing.

Kasai's Stepfather ran up to Kasai. "How heroic of him to take the hit for you. How sickeningly sweet!" Kasai turned her head and prepared for the hit.

Kasai was beaten into the wall and lay right next to Felix. Felix's eyes slowly opened. "Are you alright...?" Kasai weakly nodded. "I'm fine..."

Felix choked and coughed. Pale blue ink leaked from his mouth. "What a relief..." Kasai smiled.

And they weakly reached for each other's hands and grabbed hold. Their eyes closed and they fell unconscious, both of them smiling.

All of a sudden, Kasai's mom stepped out. She had a phone in her hand. She must have dialed 911, because in an instant there were police cars and ambulances everywhere.

I forgot I was still an apparition to them, so no one saw me watching as Kasai's stepfather was handcuffed and as Felix and Kasai were loaded into an ambulance.

I heard the stepfather mutter, "The stupid girl with the hat lied to me... She said that if I obeyed her, I would finally be happy with my family!"

Girl with a hat? He couldn't mean...

I turned around and saw the girl who was in my room earlier. Her name tag read Natalie, and her hat was off.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

Natalie was Nami.

"I was planning to use him. Somehow, I thought that weird Kasai girl was another source of the pure power that the Orange Brat had possessed..."

And then, the ground beneath my feet disappeared and I was falling again.

I woke up screaming. I was in my bed, and my clock read 1:00 a.m. I pinched my arm to see if I was still a weird apparition. I was glad to realize that I was back in reality again. Because of my screaming, my parents came running up to my room to see if I was OK.

"Isabelle! Are you alright?!" My mom shouted. I nodded. "I'm fine. Just had a bad dream."

My parents heaved a deep sigh of relief. "Alright, honey. Good night." My dad said calmly.

I struggled trying to fall asleep. I had to tell the others that Natalie was Nami, and that Nami was trying to kill Kasai and Felix.

Thoughts kept racing through my head. The boy with the book, Kasai's cruel stepfather... It was hard for me to accept that those were real.

I thought back to Max and Ellie. Both of them had a crush on each other. I smiled at the thought, and I drifted into a peaceful sleep knowing that hopefully everything was going to be okay.
