All the ancient books and even folklore have glorified us as magnificent beings. Though it held some truth back then, times have changed, and ultimately, it has affected us too.

Hi, I'm Kim Mingyu, and I'm...

 A vampire.

As cool as it may sound, I'm actually not far from being human at this point.

We vampires have evolved so much over the millennia.

The sun? We love it.

Garlic? We crave it.

Mirrors? They love us.

Our skin? Well...it was never really sparkly to begin with. I never know where they got that notion of us being walking disco balls, but moving on.

Our fangs? Yes, we still have them, but they were always retractable, so we never had an issue in that department.

Paleness? It's becoming a trend these days. Everyone seems to want to look pale.

Immortality? Lol we can die now thank God.

But one thing did remain the same.

Our thirst for blood.

As much as we evolved, our thirst for blood never seemed to have changed. We couldn't digest animal blood, not even our own. It had to come from someone else—someone who was human.

I hated feeding. As much as possible, I tried to keep it to a minimum. It didn't matter if I had to suffer in the end.

But things were bound to go south if I continued to be this stubborn. And it seemed like today would finally be that day.

I was wobbling through the hallway when I bumped into someone.

"Oops, my bad."

I was already dizzy from hunger, and the slight shove I received really toppled me over.

I landed on my butt, groaning like some zombie as I felt the pain radiate through me.

"Oh my God, I'm really sorry! Here, let me help you up."

A hand hovered near my face. I looked up to see that the man who bumped into me was none other than Jeon Wonwoo.

I say that as if I know him, but honestly...that's all I knew.

I took his hand, and he pulled me up. The sudden shift in position made me even more nauseous.

"Need help? I can take you to the nurse's office."

I nodded, and somewhere along the walk there, I blacked out.

When I woke up, Wonwoo was sitting in a chair next to the bed I was lying on, scrolling through his phone.

He noticed me squirming under the covers and quickly set his phone down, leaning in towards me with concern plastered all over his face.

"Hey, you feeling better?"

I simply nodded, a bit taken aback by how familiar he was treating me. We'd never even talked before, and yet he was acting like we were close friends or something.

"Yeah... thanks for bringing me here."

"No worries. The nurse told me to just let you rest. I told her to give you medicine, but she said you'd be better off with just some sleep."
