"I'm quitting."
"What?? No, Wonwoo, please don't!"
The entertainment industry is ruthless. Everyone knows that. From the intense competition among talents to the selection of projects and songs—everything feels like a race.
Behind the cameras and the spotlight, the pressure is just as overwhelming as it appears to the public.
Managing a well-known group might seem like a posh and easy job, but noooo. Wonwoo is at his breaking point with these troublemakers. He feels like a year of his life is being drained every time he catches one of the members doing something reckless, with one particular member being the main culprit.
"If I want to make it past 40, I really need to quit."
Wonwoo sat with another manager from a different group. The two were currently talking as they waited for their group to finish performing at the broadcasting station.
From the late nights, early mornings, heavy workload, and even the countless times he had to play bodyguard to protect the members, nothing really compares to when 'someone' starts acting up around Wonwoo.
"You can always ask for another manager to help you out. With that many members, it's no wonder you're so tired."
"See that's the thing here. It's only one of them that's being such an ass."
"Who?"

"Ahhh, Kim Mingyu oppa!"
"Look over here, please, oppa!"
"Oh my god, he's so handsome!"
"Ughh, oppa, smile for me, pleaseeee!"
The van door shuts, and Mingyu slumps down into his seat. His smile instantly disappears the moment darkness envelops him inside the van.
"'Drive me to that bar again." he says, eyes closed as he presses his temple with his hand.
"Tsk. Like I said, stop going there already. Do you realize how many times you've almost got caught?" Wonwoo replies, hands gripping the steering wheel as he glances at Mingyu through the rearview mirror.
"And isn't it your job to clean up any mess I make?" Mingyu meets Wonwoo's gaze, a sly smirk tugging at his lips as he notices the twitch right under Wonwoo's eye.
The stress was going to make him lose it sooner or later—and it seems like sooner is arriving much quicker than expected.
"That's it, I'm quitting." Wonwoo announces as he undoes his seatbelt and pulls out his phone to call someone.
Mingyu springs up, confused about what Wonwoo is doing. His words haven't quite registered yet as he watches Wonwoo angrily punch in numbers on his phone.
"What are you doing?"
"Quitting, like I said." Wonwoo glances at Mingyu over his shoulder and gives him a cold smile, one that instantly makes Mingyu hesitate.
"You being serious right now?" Mingyu leans in, sitting on the edge of his seat. Anxiety, building within him as he tries to make sense of what Wonwoo was planning.
"You bet." Wonwoo then speaks to someone on the phone. Mingyu tries to interject but is cut off when Wonwoo simply waves a hand at him, glaring as he continues speaking into the phone.
When he was done, he drove them both to a nearby parking spot, away from the fans.
"Wait here. Hyunsik will come and drive you back to the dorm." He opens the car door and is about to leave but is stopped by a firm grip on his arm.
