One time.

One freaking time.

I stepped on its tail once, and apparently, that was enough for the freaking cat gods to curse me for life.

Haaaaaaa.

I swear, my life is just a constant series of twists and turns.

But this? This isn't just a twist or a turn. It's a full 180 at this point.

"Why am I ranting?" you might ask.

Well, let me explain.

Just this afternoon after class, I ran into the usual stray cat from our neighborhood. Poor guy. I didn't have the snack I usually bring him. I was in such a rush this morning that I completely forgot.

I walked past him, feeling so guilty, talking to him like he could actually understand me.

"Meowwwww."

"Look, I know, buddy. I'm sorry. I didn't bring anything with me today. I promise I'll bring you double tomorrow."

I quickly tried to walk away, too scared that if I stayed any longer, the neighbors might come out and judge the daylights out of me for arguing with a cat.

"Meowwwww."

It caught up to me quickly, blocking my path with a stern look on its face, clearly disappointed by what I'd just said.

"I promise. Tomorrow, okay? I'll even buy you the good ones."

I gave it a quick pat, then walked around it, almost sprinting to get away and finally go home.

"Meowwwwww."

"Goodness. You're relentless."

It was now in front of me, body tense and on guard like it was challenging me to dare walk around it again.

I felt bad. But at this point, I was awfully tired—dead tired from all the classes I'd had that day.

"I'm sorry, okay? I'll be back earlier for you tomorrow, I swear."

I carefully started walking around it again, but just as I was about to land my foot, it moved. Its tail slipping right under my shoe.

"MEEOWWWWWWWW!"

"Ahhhh! Sorry, sorry, sorry!"

It hissed at me, naturally. Its usually relaxed frame was now curled up, claws out and planted firmly on the ground. Its eyes pierced right through me, probably cursing me out in its own language. Not just for forgetting to feed it, but for having the audacity to step on its fluffy tail.

"Look, I'm sorry. But this is lowkey your fault, okay? I told you multiple times I'd bring it tomorrow. I promised."

With that, I turned around and sped off toward my house.

Just as I was about to open the door...

What the hell?

What just happened?

Where the hell am I ?

Wasn't I just about to get in?

Why the hell am I on the ground?

Wait....

WTF?!!!
