XANDER HALE HAD FELT PAIN OFTEN IN HIS LIFE. The hurt from his mother's death and the pain of his father's abusive nature were enough to shake him before he turned. The process of turning was absolute agony, the venom burning him alive from the inside out. But after he became a vampire, he felt invincible. Yet, he still felt pain.
When Xander first saw Hayley after James had attacked her, he felt as if he had been gutted. Seeing her lying in Emmett's arms while blood flowed from her broken body was enough to make him sick. He thought nothing would hurt more than seeing her in that condition.
He had been so fucking wrong.
