THE NEXT FEW DAYS PASSED BY IN A BLUR. Hayley and Jessica hung out whenever she wasn't with Xander, while Bella spent most of her time with Edward. The older Swan twin nearly had a heart attack when she caught the two making out in Bella's room at almost midnight and scurried back into her room to call Xander about what had happened; the blonde laughed the whole time.
Charlie had been relentless with the Waylon case, even though he had turned it over to a different police station, but Hayley could see how much it bothered her father. So, at night, she would sit in the living room with him, just talking and watching old movies to take his mind off things. He would never have to say out loud how grateful he was for Hayley, because just the look he gave her whenever she leaned against his shoulder would say it all.
