HAYLEY HAD TAKEN IT UPON HERSELF TO BRING UP THE PLAN TO SAM AND THE PACK. Jake was already at the Swan house with Edward and Bella, which is why she refused to be there when that talk took place. The last place she wanted to be was stuck between that love triangle, which is why she was making her way to Emily's along with Camden and Xander.
Edward was less than pleased with the idea of the pack being involved, hating how Bella was so close to them. But Hayley quickly shut down his complaints, pointing out that she, too, was in danger and that she was tied to the pack. Emmett had to step between him and Xander before another fight could break out that morning.
But Hayley knew that it wasn't just Xander's arguments with Edward that were weighing him. The letter from his father was still sitting on her nightstand, and he would just stare at it whenever he spent the night. His eyes would drift away, his mind would go a million miles away, and his attention would blur.
They would have to discuss the house soon; it wasn't just something they could ignore. It was also a big step for her and Xander to take. Yes, they are engaged, and yes, he asked her to move in ━ which she hadn't done yet. But moving into their own houses was a whole new ballpark.
