HAYLEY FINALLY FOUND THE COURAGE TO TALK TO XANDER THE NIGHT AFTER ROSALIE VISITED. The conversation was one full of broken hearts and gentle embraces. She explained why she pushed him away, how she was scared he would blame himself more than he already did. And even though she knew the guilt would forever weigh heavily on his shoulders, Xander promised not to bear too much of it at one time. They would see how long that would last before they had another talk about it.
Another two weeks had passed, and Hayley had finally established some sort of routine. Every two days, she would go hunting with either Emmett or Xander, and on the days she didn't hunt, she would go to the Cullen household to practice her control with Rosalie and Carlisle.
Carlisle would place a blood bag on the counter, just out of arm's of Hayley's grasp. Rosalie would sit beside her, a comforting hand on her arm, and the three would just talk. They would have a normal conversation for two hours. It didn't sound that difficult, but when you're a newborn vampire that craves blood, and some is sitting nearly three feet away from you, and you can't have it? It's fucking torture.
