First Crush, My Forever

Chapter 20

  As I wake up this morning, I can't help but smile as I remember yesterday with Taytum. Even though I woke up earlier than I needed to be, I still can't stop smiling. I went to bed with a few conflicting feelings because so much happened. I have never had anyone in my life bring out so many emotions in me and make me feel out of control but not in a bad way. The first time I kissed Taytum stirred something in me that I cannot forget and I do not want to forget if I'm being honest. However, the harsh reality is that she is my student and we both could get in trouble.

  I get out of bed and head to the bathroom for my morning routine of cleaning my face, moisturizing and brushing my teeth, flossing and swishing mouthwash. Once I'm done, I grab my phone then make my way downstairs to the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee. I hear my phone buzz and glance at the screen to see a message from Taytum. 'Good morning gorgeous! I had a great evening with you and KK yesterday and I hope you both slept well. I'm gone with my parents to visit my grandparents but will be back this afternoon. Hopefully I can see you and KK later today. Have a great day ;)'

  I smile as I read Taytum's message again. 'Good morning to you too. I had a great evening with you too and I slept very well, thank you for asking. I hope you enjoy your visit with your grandparents and yes, I would love to see you this afternoon. I hope you have a great day as well :)' I finish my first cup of coffee after I send my reply to Taytum then fix a second cup.

  I spend the next couple hours of my morning catching up on reading before I have to wake Kadence up. My mom is picking Kadence up this morning after she has her breakfast. She wanted to take Kadence to the park, shopping and then to eat so they could have Mimi and Kadence time. I of course wasn't going to decline the offer because I need to work on lesson plans and a power point so I do not have to work on any of that during my actual Thanksgiving break.

  I quickly cook up some breakfast for Kadence so she has energy for the park. When I'm finished with breakfast, I head upstairs to my daughter's room so I can wake her up to eat and gather up anything she plans to take with her. I sit on the edge of the bed and gently nudge Kadence. Her little green eyes flutter open and a sleepy smile appears on her face as she sees me. "Good morning my baby."

  I watch Kadence yawn as she scrambles out from under the covers and climbs into my lap. "Morning mommy." Kadence says as she snuggles against me and tries to close her eyes again.

  "Come on my baby, you have to get up so you can eat then get ready. Remember, Mimi is coming to pick you up and spend the day with you." Kadence's head pops back up and she squeals as she slides out of my lap.

  "Hurry mommy. I have to eat before Mimi gets here." I laugh as I follow my excited daughter downstairs to the kitchen. As she eats I fix myself a third cup of coffee and check my phone. As soon as Kadence says "all done" the doorbell rings.

  "Go get dressed sweetheart while I let Mimi in." As I head towards the door to let my mom in, Kadence is already at the stairs to go up and get dressed. Mom waits in the living room as I go upstairs to see if Kadence needs help. Once we are done, I tote her and her little backpack downstairs to my mom. I get bye loving from my little princess and her and my mom head out for the day.

  I drown myself in work and time seems to just slip by. I glance at my phone and it's been four hours since mom and Kadence left. I let out a deep breath and stretch before I go back to finish working on this powerpoint for Creative Writing 3. As I start on my next slide the doorbell rings. My heart instantly takes off beating in hopes that it's Taytum. Before I get to the door there's a knock. "Coming!" I yell as I reach the door and swing it open. My eyes widen in surprise and I immediately smile at the sight in front of me.

  Taytum is standing there with a bouquet of red roses and oriental lilies in her hands and those sexy dimples as she smiles at me. "Hey, gorgeous." She extends the bouquet to me which causes me to smile more as I take them. "I hope it's okay that I'm here unannounced, I just really wanted to see you and KK."

  "Hey Taytum, of course it's okay." I softly say as I feel a tugging sensation in my heart. With my free hand I grab Taytum's hand then pull her inside. She laughs as I close the door then turn around to face her. I lay the flowers on the entry table for the time being so I can do what I want. Without hesitation I grab Taytum's hips and pull her to me. I look up into her blue eyes and can't seem to take my eyes off of her. "I have never wanted someone to kiss me as much as I want you to right now." I whisper into the small space between us.

  Taytum smiles as she caresses my cheek and slowly leans in, the tip of her nose touches mine as she gently brushes her lips against mine. I press my body closer and press my lips firmly against hers. Her lips feel so right against mine and I tighten my grip on her hips as I feel my body come alive. Taytum smiles against my lips then deepens the kiss. She gently tugs my bottom lip between hers and I can't stop the breathy moan that escapes me.

  With steady hands, I skim my fingertips under the edge of Taytum's shirt against her warm skin. I feel an overwhelming want to touch and explore as I slide my hands up her sides a little then back down. Her tongue traces over my lips and I slightly part my lips in anticipation for her. Instead, I feel Taytum smile against my lips again right before she places a soft kiss on my lips then pulls back some so she can look at me. "Hey" she breathes.

  "Hey, yourself" I say with a giggle and it feels like I am floating.

  Taytum softly kisses my cheek and works her way towards my ear. "I have been thinking about kissing you again since I left yesterday. Glad to know I wasn't the only one." She whispers in my ear and I swear it feels like my knees are going to buckle from her breath on my ear. I look up into Taytum's stunning blue eyes and I feel so much at once. She cups my cheek and swipes her thumb over my bottom lip as she bites her lip then releases it. "Dani... I really like you and I love spending time with you and KK."

  My heart is racing as I look at Taytum. "I really like you too and KK and I love you spending time with us."

  Taytum's eyes light up in excitement as she smiles and she looks at me like I am the most precious thing she has ever seen. "You said KK instead of Kadence."

  I roll my eyes playfully, "yeah well, it is a cute nickname and she may or may not have asked me to call her that like TayTay does. Come on, let's go sit down after I add these flowers to the vase."

  Once I'm done with the flowers, we both settle down on the couch, facing each other some, with our knees touching. Taytum props her arm up on the back of the couch and rests her head against her hand. She looks at me intensely and I watch as her eyes move, taking in every detail of my face. I am honestly at a loss for words to break our silence as her blue eyes take me in. Taytum lifts her head from her hand and I watch as she reaches towards my face. Her fingertips brush against the curve of my jaw all the way to my chin and my eyes flutter close at her soft touch.

  Suddenly Taytum breaks the silence, "Go on a date with me Dani. Please?"

  My eyes shoot open and widen as I look at Taytum because that was not what I was expecting to come out of her mouth. My lack of response due to being caught off guard by Taytum's unexpected question causes her to second guess her request. "You don't have to Dani. I realize it was stupid for me to say given our situation. I do not want to be the cause of your job being at risk. I'm sorry."

  I bite my lip as one emotion after another wash over me. "I... I put my own job at risk the first time I kissed you, then again in my office when I kissed you for a second time." I watch Taytum carefully and swallow my nerves before I continue. "There's this deep, powerful... attraction between us, a connection that I have never felt before with anyone. It scares me and intrigues me at the same time but...." I close my eyes and take a deep breath. My eyes lock with Taytum's as soon as I open them and I know what I have to do.
