First Crush, My Forever

Chapter 10

  Honestly I wanted more than anything to stay and eat dinner with the amazing mother daughter duo yesterday but I didn't. It was hard for me to tell KK no but I know it was the right thing to do even though I would give anything to be part of their dynamic. I wanted Dani to have time with KK before she had to go to bed, especially since she got home later than usual and it was already close to KK's bath time. I hope I didn't overstep by cooking dinner for them, I just wanted to help Dani out and let her have time with her daughter.

  When I walked over to my house yesterday afternoon from Dani's, my mom's were cuddling on the couch in the living room watching something on TV. They let me know dinner was in the oven but instead of eating, I said I wasn't hungry and I went straight to our home gym to workout. I worked out for nearly two hours then showered and just went to bed even though it was early.

  I definitely know that it's not just a crush on Dani anymore and I need to get my feelings in check. If I would have stayed at Dani's to eat dinner with her and KK I probably would have let my feelings slip which would have ruined our friendship and caused me to lose my babysitting job. To some people it may just be a babysitting job but it's more than just that to me. I would literally watch KK without being paid to do so and have even told Dani that before but she made it clear that wasn't happening.

  I actually have Dani's class today and it's right before my work study with the same amazing woman. I guess I should go ahead and get up so I can get ready. I am still tired even though I went to bed earlier than I normally do. I will definitely need coffee to help get me through this morning. I might get a coffee for Dani as well just so she can have a pick me up. I know yesterday was a long day for her and who knows, KK might not have gone to bed at her regular time since Dani got home later than usual.

  After washing my face and taking care of my oral hygiene I walk to my closet and try to decide what I want to wear today. Finally, I decided to go with gray casual dress pants, black fitted v neck shirt, white low profile vans and put my hair up in a bun. I put on a silver chain necklace, some rings, grab my cell phone, keys and check my appearance quickly then go to the kitchen because I know my mom's cooked something for breakfast, they always do. They actually made breakfast burritos which are perfect for on the go. Since I skipped dinner last night, I grab two breakfast burritos and head out to my car so I can stop by Starbucks before heading to campus.

  I ordered the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk for myself, a Caramel Vanilla Swirl and a piece of Cinnamon Coffee Cake. Once I have my order, I start my journey to campus. I park close to the English department, grab my backpack, the two drinks, the piece of cake and make my way to Dani's office.

  As I stand outside Dani's office door, the anticipation of seeing her makes me feel excited, giddy or whatever you want to call it. I shake my head at myself because of how ridiculous that sounds. I have it so bad for someone completely off limits, out of my league and so unattainable. With one drink in hand and the other tucked between my body and my arm, I use my free hand and softly knock on the door so I do not startle her. I hear Dani's gentle but tired voice say "come in."

  I open the door and my eyes automatically go to her desk but she isn't there. "Dani?" I question because I know she is in here because I knocked and she said "come in."

  "Taytum? What are you doing here this early?" I hear Dani ask so I step into her office, shutting the door behind me. I glance around and spot her in the back corner at one of the bookshelves. What catches me off guard though is because she is literally standing in her rolling desk chair trying to reach a book.

  "What are you doing Dani?" I quickly sit the drinks and cake on her desk, throw my backpack in one of the chairs in front of her desk then walk towards her. "Dani, that is not safe. Why don't you get down and I will reach whatever it is you're trying to get."

  Dani mumbles "okay" and I am about 10 steps away from her when I hear her gasp. I see her start to fall as she is about to get down so I hurry and rush forward to catch her to hopefully keep her from getting hurt. Luckily I catch Dani just in time with one hand cradling her head and my other around her lower back as I pull her flush against me right before we land on the floor. I hiss as I feel a sharp pain right below my right shoulder blade as my back collides with the floor and whatever object I landed on.

  I slip my hand from the back of Dani's head to her back so she can move her head and loosen my other arm that's around her back. She lifts her head a little to look at me and I feel her taking a few deep breaths as she calms herself down. "Oh God Taytum, thank you. I don't know what I would have done if you were not here to catch me. I am so sorry to put you in that situation but I truly appreciate you. Are you okay though?" I know what happened was scary to her as I hear the shakiness in her voice.

  I take a couple deep breaths and nod my head even though Dani can't see me but my back is hurting. "Are you okay Dani? I tried to shield your head and keep you from hitting the floor. You didn't get hurt did you?"

  I watch Dani's movements as she lifts herself up more to look at me better. With the shift in her movement one of her legs slips between mine and I feel the warmth of her knee accidentally press up against me. I suck in a breath as I feel the pressure against my clothed clit when she lifts up a little more which causes her knee to press a little harder against me. "Dani..." I breathe out causing her to look at me with worry in her eyes. "Um, can you move your knee?"

  Dani looks down towards her leg and her face turns beet red as realization hits her. "I am so sorry. I wasn't... I mean, I didn't...." She scoots off of me onto the floor and it's now that I realize she is wearing a skirt. A skirt that is half way up her thighs at the moment as I notice her trying to pull it down. If she tries to stand up, she will definitely show more than what is currently visible. I look away so she doesn't feel even more uncomfortable with the situation.

  "Dani, I'm turning on my side so you can get up and fix your skirt. I promise I am not going to look." I turn onto my side and it feels so good to not be laying on whatever was under my back. As much as I would love to catch a glimpse, it's not right plus I have more respect for her and myself.

  "Shit! You landed on one of my heels that I had thrown onto the floor, Taytum." Dani worriedly says as I feel her presence directly behind me. That would be why it hurt so damn bad. I don't know why it's burning though.

  "I knew I landed on something. Please let me know when you're decent so I can get up."

  I hear movement as it sounds like Dani gets up and then I hear her move her heels out of the way. "Come on sweetie, you can get up. Do you need some help?" I turn over and automatically see Dani worriedly looking down at me with glossy eyes. I get up off of the floor and feel a little dampness on the back of my shirt for some reason.
