"Sophie, don't cry. Isn't there any money left in the company's account?" Old Mary asked. At least there was still hope if they could pay for his current treatments.

"No Grandma, the shareholders seized the company's account because the workers were not paid. There's only one way for us to get money for his treatments." Sophie replied as she looked down at her phone.

"Whatever it takes, do it." Old Mary urged as she saw the door open. She stood up immediately she saw the doctor walk through the door.

"Doctor, how's my dad doing. Tell me." Sophie pleaded, clutching at his coat.

The doctor sighed as he brought out the medical report. "Your dad has been diagnosed with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Arrhythmias (Irregular Heartbeats), and Stress Cardiomyopathy (Broken Heart Syndrome). Stress and overthinking triggered the release of stress hormones which lead to inflammation, high blood pressure, and plaque buildup in his arteries. Stress and insufficient sleep disrupted his heart's electrical signals, causing arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation or premature heartbeats. Extreme emotional or physical stress lead to sudden weakening of his heart muscles and now he's in a critical condition."

Sophie sobbed at the mention of her father being in a critical condition. "Doctor, please save him."

"We are trying our best. Meanwhile, his treatment has been suspended because no deposit has been made. Do well to make some payments so he can be treated on time." The doctor said then turned around and walked out.

"Grandma, I'll be right back." Sophie ran out of the ward, leaving her to wonder where she was going.

At noon, Stella stood up from her chair and walked around her office. She took a deep breath then placed her right hand on her stomach.

Looking back at her table where the empty food containers laid, she felt her stomach and wondered why she was still feeling hungry.

Her appetite had suddenly increased in the past few days and she began to wonder why. A knock on the door disrupts her thinking.

"Come in." Stella said and just as the door opened, her eyes froze at who she saw.

Sophie walked into the office and wasn't surprised by the look on Stella's face. She knew Stella won't be happy to see her after everything that had happened.

"Why are you here?" Stella asked, noticing the sad look on her face.

"I know you don't want to see me but first hear me out. I'm sorry for everything we did to you. I understand if you still hate me but Stella please, we need to save dad. He's in a critical condition and the doctors suspended his treatments because we haven't made any payment. Stella please, help dad so he won't die." Sophie pleaded as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"What happened to dad?" Stella asked almost immediately. Seeing the tears that ran down Sophie's cheek like a waterfall, she knew once that his situation was really serious.

"Come quickly, I'll tell you on the way."

Stella picked up her purse and followed her out. They hailed a taxi to the hospital where he was admitted.

Sophie fiddled with her fingers as she looked at Stella. "Thanks for coming to help. At first I thought you would refuse to help..."

"Why did you think so?" Stella asked and Sophie looked out the window to avoid meeting her gaze.

"After everything we did to you, it's enough to make you refuse." She stated blankly.

Stella sighed and placed her hand on her shoulder. "No matter what happened, you are still my sister and he's still my father. I've forgiven them already."
