Stella looked down at the brown envelope as she walked towards the window. She pulled it open and brought out a white paper.
The words ‘My apologies to Stella’, caught her eyes at first glance. She unfolded the paper and read what was written on it.
“Stella, I’m sorry for everything I made you go through. If I could go back in time and correct it, I would have done it. Sophia and her mum said lots of bad things about you and I believed them. I didn't know they were lying to me. If you can forgive me, I don't mind if you don't talk to me but as far as you have forgiven me, I'll be ok. It's my fault your mother died, if I hadn't believed what Sophia, Katherine and the old lady said about her, she wouldn't have left home that day.
She had an accident on the road and her car caught fire. She died a painful death because of me. I can never forgive myself. Stella, please I'm sorry. If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have left you to suffer. Sophia told me you made our family lose face and respect after you slept with an unknown man you found on the roadside. She told me you came with a police and a lawyer and threatened to take all the Brooks family property so in anger, I signed all your share of the property to her.
I didn't know what she said was a lie. Stella, I know you probably hate me by now. What can I do to show how much I regret my actions. In this world, you two were the only people that really cared for me, but I was blinded by lies.
I can't ask much but all I ask is that you forgive me. If you ever want to come back, I'll be happy to have you back. We'll start afresh, we'll leave the country and start a new life. I just wished your mum was still alive, we would have been a complete family. She always told me she wanted to see her grandchildren before she moved on but it's my fault she didn't get to see your daughter.
Stella, if you ever decide to come back to the Brooks family, I promise to bring it up again and make you and your daughter the head of all our future companies and assets. Once again, I ask that you'll please forgive me for everything.
Stella touched her eyes and was surprised to see her fingers wet. She folded the paper and slide it back into the envelope before putting it in her purse.
" Stella, Stella!" A voice called from behind.
Stella turned to the direction of hurried footsteps approaching.
" Stella, the doctor wants to see you." Sophie said, stopping in front of Stella. She noticed Stella's eyes were a little wet. " Stella, are you ok?"
Stella nodded as she cleaned her eyes. "I'm fine, let's go."
Sophie nodded and led the way. They got to the doctor's office. Stella went in while Sophie chose to wait outside.
"Doctor, how's my dad?" Stella asked, taking her seat opposite the doctor.
He hands her her father's case file with a relaxed look on his face. "You brought him in the right time. The hospital he was in before was giving him the wrong treatment which could have worsen his situation. We have operated on him and he's already showing signs of recovery, but after he regained consciousness, he kept mumbling your name. Saying he's sorry and you should please forgive him. I don't know why he said it but I'm sure you'll know. We will continue his treatment so you can come see him tomorrow when he's much better."
Stella nodded with a relaxed smile on her face. She's glad that he's no longer in danger. "Thank you doctor. I'll come tomorrow."
"And also," The doctor added as Stella stood up. "He said something about you freeing Sophia and her mum from jail but his words were muffled so I couldn't hear everything he was saying."
