Clinton stood embarrassed in the center of the hall. All eyes were on him, making him even more embarrassed. He stared at Reagan's back as he walked out of the hall with Stella in his arms.
The situation was already awkward and people were probably wondering why another man was taking his date away.
He's so not going to let this happen. Furious, Clinton dashed pass the crowd and ran after Reagan. When he got outside, he saw Reagan was about entering into his car with Stella.
“Reagan, what gives you the right to take Stella away…”
Pawh!
Clinton staggered back as he clenched his jaw where a punch had landed. He looked up, his eyes meeting with Blake who looked like he was not going to take his nonsense.
Blake flexed his fingers, feeling a slight ache on his knuckles. “If you forgot your memory to think Stella belongs to you, then I'm ready to give you a second punch to help you remember.”
Clinton stared at him, unable to utter a word.
Blake turned and walked back to the car. He got into the driver's seat and drove the car away, leaving Clinton more embarrassed after noticing the crowd that witnessed the scene.
Reagan smiled as he looked at the woman in his arms. Her eyes were closed and her face was flushed. She looked weak and he so much wanted to beat Clinton up, but her health was more important.
He was in the middle of a meeting when one of his men sent him the video. After he watched the video, he rushed down here as fast as he could.
When he walked into the hall and she saw him, he could see the excitement in her eyes. She was happy to see him. He couldn't stop thinking about her after the last message she sent.
He replied her message but her reply never came. It got him thinking. He had planned to come look for her after the meeting was over.
Now she was in his arms, where she belonged, and he's not letting her go again.
“Boss, we've arrived at the hospital.” Blake spoke up.
Reagan nodded and gently gathered her into his arms. She stirred up in her sleep and snuggled close to him. Blake pulled the door open and he alighted down.
Stella was taken into the VIP Ward while Reagan stood outside with Blake. Reagan paced around, unable to calm down. He couldn't hold his excitement.
Blake reached into his pocket as he felt his phone vibrating. He looked at the caller's ID then glanced at Reagan before answering the call.
“Hello…”
“Where's my daddy? Why isn't he answering my calls. I want to speak with him, now.” The impatient voice of a little girl came from the other end.
“Boss,” Blake called out. “it's for you.”
Reagan walked over and took the phone. “Hello.”
“Did you do something to my mummy that you don't want me to know about? It's been more than two days and I haven't seen any of you. Have you two forgotten about me?”
Reagan pinched the spaces between his brows. He hadn't gone home since the day of the incident, it's understandable why she's upset. “Princess, we'll never forget about you. I and mummy have been having a little disagreement lately…”
“You fought with mummy?” Her small innocent voice came through. She sounded like she was about to cry.
“No princess. We only had a disagreement and mummy wanted to be alone for sometime. We've settled it and mummy will be coming back home today, ok?”
“Ok.” She replied, but he knew she wasn't happy.
It's better he lied than tell her the truth. She'd cry all day if he was to tell her her mummy didn't remember who she was.
“Do me a favor princess.” Reagan spoke up.
“What?” She asked.
“Mummy's been really tired lately. She had an headache so she had to visit the hospital. When she comes, she'll need sometime to rest, ok?”
“Ok daddy.”
“Bye princess, mummy and daddy loves you.” Reagan said then ended the call. He sighed then gave the phone back to Blake.
The door to Stella's Ward pushed open and a nurse walked out. “Mr. Brighton, the doctor would like to see you, alone.”
Reagan nodded and went in. The nurse closed the door behind him.
His eyes landed on the bed as he entered the room. Stella was already awake, her eyes brightened when she saw him enter.
He walked towards the bed and sat beside her, his eyes never leaving hers.
“How's her condition, is it anything serious?” Reagan asked, his fingers pushing aside the stray hair on her face.
“Very serious.” The doctor replied.
Only then did Reagan look at him. His brows furrowed. “What's wrong? Why haven't you started treating her if it's very serious?”
“Calm down Mr. Brighton, her condition is very serious, but it doesn't need any medical treatment for now.”
“What do you mean?”
The doctor stood up and fetched a brown envelope from the table. He passed it to Reagan and sat back on his chair.
Reagan took and opened it, unsure of what to expect. He brought out two results. One was a scan and the other was a report.
Stella stretched her neck, trying to see what it was. The doctor refused to let her see it before Reagan did. She saw a frown form on his face, but it was quickly replaced with a smile.
His eyes moved from the paper and locked gaze with hers. The results fell from his hand as he stood up.
Just then, the voice of the doctor sounded.
“Congratulations Mr. Brighton, your wife is 6 weeks pregnant.”
Reagan held his chest as his heartbeat doubled. The world seemed to pause around them.
“I'll leave you two for now.” The doctor said then exited the ward.
Reagan ran his hand through his hair. He could feel his heart pounding. He moved closer to her, his hands cupping her cheeks.
“Stella,” he mumbled, placing him forehead on hers. “You are the best.” He leaned in and sealed her lips with his.
Stella's eyes closed as she accepted his kiss. His lips were soft and gentle against hers. He slipped his hand into her hair and deepened the kiss.
Stella's stomach churned with a familiar feeling. Reagan pulled off from the kiss, his forehead still on hers.
“I love you Stella. You are amazing. We're having a second baby. I promise I'll be here with you. I won't leave you like the last time. We'll raise them together, I promise.”
Stella frowned. “Second baby?”
“Yes Stella. We have a four years old daughter and she has been begging for a baby brother. She's going to be so happy.”
“Is she the one in that picture on your office table?” Stella asked, remembering the picture she saw of herself and a little girl.
“Yes she is and she has been waiting to see you for days. I didn't want to take you back until you regained your memory but she has been alone for days. I'm taking you back today, if you can just please pretend that you still remember her, she'll be happy.”
Stella nodded and looked down at her stomach. She couldn't believe a baby had been inside her the whole time.
Although she didn't remember having an affair with any man, but it was already clear that the man in front of her was the father. Maybe he was right after all. The excitement was evident on his face and he seemed unable to control it.
