chapter twenty one
3 months later...
"I don't know. I'm supposed to be happy, but," she stopped. "I'm not. I'm scared. I'm nervous. I do not know what to expect.""You've waited for this for so long, Brynn. I know you wouldn't back out now. Your mom still doesn't know anything about this?"
"No. She's just going to take opportunity away from me. I can't let that happen."
She sighed. "I'm sure you won't."
"Please help me," Brynn begged. "I need you to decide for me!"
"Brynn, I am just your therapist. I can't decide for you. All I can do is guide you in making your decisions."
"I know, I know. But I need some help for tomorrow, you know? I mean, what would I do when I get the chance to talk to him? We don't even know if I will have the chance!" Brynn worried. She placed the palm of her hand on her forehead and sat down.
"Look Brynn, no matter how much you practice for 'that' day, you'll end up screwing up what you just practiced. Just go with the flow tomorrow," her therapist suggested.
"I- I just don't know what to expect," Brynn sighed. "Okay. I better go now. Tell Mom we're done and don't tell her anything about-"
"Yes ma'am. You've kept this to me for so long, would I break it now? Go on. Have fun," she bid her goodbye and walked her towards the door.
"Good Luck!" she shouted as Brynn walked the hallway. As she got out the building, she stared at the skyscrapers above her.
Never has she ever given time and admire it. She sat down on the nearest corner and looked up.
She spent hours and hours doing nothing but stare at it until she has come to a thought.
Why are you even doing this Brynn? You're not even sure what you'll get from this, she silently mumbled to herself. She took the nearest stone and threw it.
This better be worth it, she stood up from the pavement and started walking. She took her phone and called her mum.
"Mom, you can pick me up now," she informed mom. She was about to place her phone down when her Mom unexpectedly replied.
"Okay honey. I'm about a block away from the building. I'm parked beside sbucks. Okay? Bye," her mom hung the phone and Brynn placed her phone back in her pocket.
She was about to make a turn on the next block when she passed by a souevenir shop. She entered the small store and looked around.
She saw a very sweet and pleasant pale blue scarf. She knew she wasn't gonna use it, but she was just overwhelmed with it. Even if there's nothing special. She purchased it anyways and made her way to her car.
She entered her own Jeep Wrangler and kissed her mother. "How's session today, honey?"
"Never been better," she sarcastically said. She placed her newly bought scarf behind on the seats and reclined her chair. "Mom, I'm leaving tomorrow. I'll be leaving before you come home from work."
"What makes you think I'm allowing that, young lady?"
"Uhmm. Because I'm an adult and I have my own freewill," she annoying answered her back. She rolled her eyes and turned away from her.
"No, I'm not going to allow that," Rose furiously answered.
"Then don't," Brynn finally answered and closed her eyes. I better get the keys before she takes them away from me. It's my car anyways, she thought.
Her mother got the engine going and started the car. The trip was nothing but silence; tension between the two.
