chapter three
Before Casey could even speak, Mrs. Sanford started the class discussion. Casey didn't want to get in trouble and all that, so she decided to keep her mouth shut in her class. Brynn knew she couldn't do anything for her friend to speak, so she just stayed silent for the rest of the class.
For the whole time in class, Brynn didn't do anything else but browse her phone. If she'd find something new, she'd go jot in down in her notebook. For her, its a win-win, because she get to do what she wants, and Mrs. Sanford gets the illusion that she is taking down notes.
When the two left the classroom for the canteen, Casey started talking.
"Okay," Casey rub her hand against her other hand, "where did we end again?" she asked. "Oh yeah, the working part."
"Oh, So you want us to work?" Brynn didn't seem to like idea. Casey nodded her in response.
"Okay, where do we work then?" Brynn asked. Usually, when they plan something out, something will always come to ruin it.
"I don't yet, but I'm gonna give us one. I guarantee you," she assured her friend. Casey shook her head and extended her arms for the cafeteria lady to serve her food. The two sat on a table for two and started munching.
"Of all things we could do, you chose to work?" Brynn ranted. She waited for her friend's response while Casey was still munching on her burger. "Casey, you do know I could do anything, right? You, you don't like work!"
"Yes. I am aware of that fact, but that's the only practical thing to do," she explained.
"Practical? We can make a debt to my mom's friend. We dont ne-"
"Need to work? Brynn, we have to start being independent. We're 17 already! Besides, we also need to help our parents. Look, if you want we can only work for a number of months just until we reach our desired quota."
"Okay, that's sounds fine. If you want we can start looking for jobs tonight. If that's okay?" Casey offered.
"Of course! Why would I say no?" they both laughed. Once the food was finished, the two left and headed on their respective classrooms.
Brynn walked along the hallway alone, as she brought Casey to her classroom. As, she forced herself to enter her next class, someone tapped her by her shoulder. It was her brother, Dylan.
"Dylan? Oh God, what are you doing here? I.. Is Mom alright?" Brynn started to worry. The last time her brother came to their school, their mother got rushed in the hospital.
"Yes of course she is. Uhmm, but the reason why I came here is concerning her. She is having some friends over and she needs some help. From us. I already got you a permit." Brynn and Dylan's mother is the protective kind of mother. She would her kids to study all week, instead of partying or go training in sports.
And now their mother, pulling them out of class is a big deal. Brynn reckoned that this might be very important to their mom, so decided to go home. Before she left, she made a mini stop by Casey's class and informed her that she would be leaving.
Brynn created a tiny knock on the door, and opened the door.
"Uh, Excuse me, sir. May I please excuse Casey?" she smiled.
"Yes. Yes of course, Casey!" he called out to her. Casey, who looks like she fell asleep in her class, walks towards Brynn and out the door.
"Why?"
"I have to go home, my uh, my mom needs me," she explained.
"Yeah sure! I guess I'll just meet you there," Casey hugged her real tight and sent herself back in her class.
