~Bonus Chapter~
"So you got sick, and he just took you home? " Harin asked Seungmin as the two stood in the break room by the coffee maker.
"Yup," he responded evenly, tearing off the tops and dumping two packs of sugar into his cup. It was the next day, and the two's absence from the party didn't go unnoticed by Harin or any of their colleagues.
"Huh, maybe he's actually nice," Harin laughed, siping her mug.
"I doubt it," he rolled his eyes, slightly shifting his gaze away from her, hoping she wouldn't catch the small smile tugging at his lips at just the smallest thought of Chan.
The night before felt like a dream—Chan was his dream, and he found it nearly impossible to contain his excitement. The two snapped their heads towards the opening door.
"Seungmin," one of their coworkers called.
"Hm," he hummed, setting his cup on the counter.
"Uh, Mr. Bang is asking for you," they responded, pulling their face up to him.
"Oh my god. Are you okay?" Harin gently asked him. They both quickly noticed his pale expression, and knowing he had just come from Chan's office, that only meant one thing.
"He's mad about the lack of sponsors after last night's party," he tried to explain through his shaken breaths.
"It's okay," Harin said softly, giving him a gentle hug as she walked him to the table to sit. Seungmin approached the table with a cup of water for him.
He felt stuck; this was partly his fault, but he also felt frustrated with the older. He didn't understand why Chan was being so harsh when they were at fault.
"You should go," Harin said quickly, glancing up at Seungmin. "You know how he gets when you're late," she added, trying to give him a reassuring smile. Seungmin nodded, setting the glass on the table, and left the room.
Seungmin had probably walked down the halls to Chan's office a million times, but this time, he was accompanied by an overwhelming amount of anxiety. Which wasn't uncommon; this just felt like a different form of it. Seungmin was never good at ignoring his insecure mind; now, his thoughts are relentless. Mainly the idea of, "What happens now??"
They both liked each other, so what? Did Chan even want a relationship? Did he himself? Chan was still his boss, and if they were actually together, it could never be openly. This suddenly felt like too much, too fast, and he could feel himself starting to panic. He really has to stop drinking at those damn parties.
"Mr. Kim," Chan's secretary called, gently tapping his arm.
"I'm sorry," Seungmin answered, refocusing on her.
"He's ready for you," she smiled, gesturing for the door.
"Thank you," he returned the smile, gently bowing to her before he turned to the door. He desperately sighed, quickly wiping his sweaty palm on his pants before he raised his hand and knocked on the door.
"Mr. Bang," he called softly as he opened the door.
"Come in," Chan responded, standing up from the desk at his entrance. His tone was firm, and Seungmin already wished he was anywhere else. Seungmin took small, steady breaths, trying to regain control of his emotions as he cautiously stepped further into the room.
As much as he desired not to, he pulled his eyes from the ground, directing his gaze on Chan. His expression was cold and unreadable like always, and Seungmin couldn't help but feel small in his presence.
